My parents bought a pc about 4 years ago with with XP on. I taught them how to use e-mail, web browsing for the first time (don't ask how long that took me)

Recently I had to do a re-install, and owing to the pc not coming with a single disk, I went Ubuntu. 2 things surprised me:
They found their way around really quickly, my mom now finds it easier to download and drag-and-drop videos of her grandson than ever before!

And my 81 year old father no longer needs his glasses for e-mail. Exactly the same hardware, lighting etc. and still using Chrome. The only difference being the operating system.

Even in comparison to win 7 I find Ubuntu easier on my eyes. Now if only Autodesk would release Linux versions...

That is interesting to hear. What version of Ubuntu did you go with? Are they using Unity?

For DWG files, have you had a look at DraftSight?
