With just one week to go until the release of Ubuntu 9.04, a final test release is now available.

One problem though... that means I would have to restart my Kubunu 8.10.... it's STILL running without a single reboot or error....

Just one (or more) question..........
If I install and format to ext4, will I have access to the data using a distro (any one) that does not yet have support for ext4? I presume NOT Will 'Putty' have access from WinXP PC (using ssh)?

Can I simply upgrade to this version without installing a new OS and losing all my data?

Yes. Simply go to the terminal and type "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" when Jaunty has been released. It will download 700+ MB depending on how many apps you have installed.

Ext4 is supported by any distro's released after the release of ext4.... it will be mountable by those distro's.
Putty will have access as long as it is enabled from Ubuntu.
