Yes, that's how it works. I applied for continuation of benefits using the online system for May, June and July 2024. From submitting your application till payout generally took 5-7 days. Then the fiasco with the online system started in August and I had to go in and apply in person at the Dept of Labour branch in Sasolburg. The last time I went in was last week Wednesday and got a SMS notification that evening that the money will be paid in within 7 working days. Hopefully I will get it within the next 2-3 days.Seriously?
I claimed also UIF at a stage, applied, and got a few months, and didnt need to apply month after month. It was once off
We called UIF since Aug 2024 a few time. They know about the issue, and system is offline to process.
Whatever that means

Could you give a breakdown of what is needed when going in person? I’ll have to find my closest/quickest branch and go in as soon as I can…
There are actually a few online firms doing it for a small cost
When I go to apply for continuation I only take along a pen and my ID. Al the forms needed to complete is available at the branch.Could you give a breakdown of what is needed when going in person? I’ll have to find my closest/quickest branch and go in as soon as I can…
It has not worked since last year August.Does the UIF portal work for anyone?
Clowns. It has not worked since last year August.
Don't just wait, nothing is going to happen call them, write emails, if nothing still doesn't happen, summon the strength to go to their offices.Update: I submitted a benefits claim online around two weeks back, still waiting for something, anything...
The online process is currently NOT working, and has not worked since August of last year. Everything looks as if it working, you can log in and everything seems to be OK, but nothing is happening in the background due to the unresolved dispute. To get anything done, you MUST go in person for ALL actions.Don't just wait, nothing is going to happen call them, write emails, if nothing still doesn't happen, summon the strength to go to their offices.
The online process us easy but it looks like everything still relies on human intervention.

I made the mistake of thinking the website is working, but after applying for continuation of benefits for 2 consecutive months and nothing happening, I eventually summed up the courage to go to the debt of Labour branch. There they confirmed that it is not working, even if it appears to do so.
Because of this:Oh?, okay wasn't aware of that.
Tenders, just as we have water tank Mafias, construction Mafias, we also have IT Mafias from those service providers, this sounds like that Cash Paymaster Services all over again. Why does everything regress in SA, we get something sorted like online UIF and bam it breaks. I mean it worked in 2014 when my wife was retrenched.
