UK proves HIGH SA Bandwidth prices

Actually if my maths is correct... We're 6830% more expensive.

And just think Speed-wise, we are still sitting at 4mb ADSL when Kenya has a standard of 8mb ADSL. Also, Japan came out with 1GB connections - SA is just so far behind!

the rest of the world is so far ahead we have to work twice as hard just to catch up

The good news is RSA is getting access to the new (two of them?) undersea cables from Feb 2009, this will I predict at the very least halve the cost of data to the wholesalers by March ( I hope sooner rather than later)2009.

This has various implications for a lot of industries and also for the mobile data providers who at the moment do not have sufficient capacity just for local events like new year where they were unable to service the demand, this bodes ill for the world cup so this increase in bandwidth that is NOT tied into Telkom and SAIX is great news for the whole of Africa.

In order for RSA to be a world leader we have to stop the OLD ways of thinking, we MUST be the best by keeping an even keel in uneven playing field.

We must be ahead of the curve and to do this we have to have specialist operators who are prepared to link up to the public to share access such as FON in span has done.

As someone said to me, about me and I feel this also applies to all South Africans - we must not just think out of the box, we must ignore it completely to think of new ways of doing the same things. Not only that and new ways of doing solutions for problems in the future.

Think it through people. We have some of the world's brightest, most ingenious people who have gone on to do very big things, such as the falcon nine rocket systems, the Tesla electric car - South Africans

We can do it.

All of us are worth this - we can show the world we are made of the right stuff, not just the tough stuff, the offal, throw off's and dumping ground.

Enjoy your holiday, enjoy thinking of new better ways to beat the rest - think of the cricket team beating the Arrogant Aussies.
