Ultrasonic spectacle cleaner

I got this delivered today and just used it now. I put a spot or two of sunlight in, filled the basin and after switching on you could immediately see the streaks of grime streaking from under the rim that I had the issue with. After the 3 minute cycle, I dried with the supplied cloth and I have to say I'm quite impressed with the results. Tipping out the water you could see a lot of grit and general kak in the water, so it does work although I reckon I'll need to do this a few times for spotlessness. So I have to say this is a nice purchase and I'm initially pleased with it.

keep in mind they only clean - not dry
the drying bit is critical, any dirt on a drying cloth and you are back to the beginning !

i keep some of those small sealed medical swabs (used for injections - isopropyl alcohol) ) in the cars and office.
they come in small boxes, any pharmacy, dirt cheap

You know that damages the coating on the glasses

Don't know, they can help with reflection and refraction, but others do feel like a scam.

This seems identical - except for the price. And delivery time - which makes me think it comes from Temu :)

I went the no coating route and I have noticed zero difference. Then gain, I think I've got those eyes that really are not that picky over pixels and resolutions...

I was a bit impatient to see it work and actually forgot it was coming so wasn't prepared to look into the best options for a solution, if any. So it turned up and I just used warm water and a little sunlight and it's worked failry nicely.

I do have the react to light coatings so I'll have a good look about and see what the implications are.

For those mentioning handwash earlier, I was going to say I use that and Sunlight, depending what part of the house I'm in when the urge takes me to clean my glasses.

But, having just done a quick Google on best ultrasounds for glasses, the feedback did say just use water in them or add, a 'tiny spot" of mild dish soap - i assume that's Sunlight :)

Since I only see this thread today, I have one of these (but with a 'german' brand name) that I had bought from ODO a year or so ago for the aligners and spectacles. They work rather well though I will admit , I very rarely clean my glasses. Should be doing that since I have a new pair now.

Seems like you guys are old hands at this with the same kind of machine. Some concerns from the thread are on coatings, have you noticed any degradation ove the time you've been using?

Best thing to clean specs is an old thick cotton brief that has >1 year of use and washes.

I kid you not.
