Actually not.

We all know the DNS issues will be resolved eventually. The majority of Gauteng users will eventually register for e-Tags and the who e-Toll system will still be up and running in 10 years from now...

Probably the same system as the fscktards will never upgrade once they eventually get it working...

Is there a way to give this incident a very low priority or just close it without resolving it? (I know Telkom can do these things from personal experience)

There is another thread on this topic. We (Telkom Internet) reported this to SAIX, who reported it to Vodacom yesterday. SANRAL is aware of the problem, but as of a few hours ago could not provide any info or ETR.

Note that Telkom Internet ADSL and Afrihost also seem to be affected.

Users on Telkom Mobile and Telkom Internet ADSL can use dsl-cache
saix.net port 8080 as proxy server as a workaround until SANRAL/ETC fix this routing problem.

Nope. I can get to the e-Troll login page just fine.

What IP did you get?

When we tested on Afrihost from Guateng today, we got an IP from 105.236.0.0/15, and couldn't reach them.

This is the other thread.

It might be related:
Since yesterday I can't receive mail from Yahoo. Ping and trace route to pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk (redirected to yahoo.com) works. When checking mail there is no response "Finding host...". Similiar to DNS problem, but there is the same with Saix and Google. It looks like port 995 is blocked. Hovewer Gmail works and is using the same port 995.

Yahoo has/had its own problems.

When I connect to Telkom Mobile, I either get an IP address assigned in the 41.x.x.x or 197.x.x.x range. It is network assigned so I have no control over it. When it assigns an IP address in the 41.x.x.x range, I can access the Sanral website, when it assigns an IP address in the 197.x.x.x range, I cannot access the Sanral website.

Correct! I tried 197 right now, it doesn't work.

Since the evening of 30 December 2013, it appears that access to the SANRAL website is no longer available when using Telkom Mobile 3G to connect.

See my other thread I posted on 31 Dec 2013 here:

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/584744-SANRAL-s-Website-Offline

I just tried it again - still the same result - Webpage Unavailable.

It is could be that Telkom has a lame DNS entry in their DNS servers. It could be that simple. Run a nslookup from a Telkom network and then one from a non-Telkom network and you will see. Then get SANRAL to ask Telkom to remove the to remove the incorrect entry. Chances are that SANRAL hosted their web site at Telkom and Telkom never removed the DNS entry.

Cheers
