Hi
Can someone tell me why and how to fix the problem of me?

After im a few minutes connected with the E160G modem, data just stop moving...i cant open a page nothing but im connected. If i dc and reconnect all fine again till a few minutes later again.

please help.

Hi VD, the same thing happens to me on my Nokia E51 - but only if the Vodacom network decides that I can download at faster than 20Kb/s. Every once in a while I get a burst of speed up to 300Kb/s and then after about 10sec of that speed the connection falters. It stays connected but no data gets received. I have to disconnect and reconnect again for it to work.

Same here on a E272, many times after a short while I'm still connected yet there's no throughput, nothing up & even less down.
I've commented on this before in the forum & that's the reason why I eventually cancelled my contract with VC.
I mean c'mon having to retry failed downloads at those flippen prices is simply not on.

I do sometimes still use prepaid tho, like last night when I wanted to download 2 files to my laptop. 14MB & 29MB should be quick no?
The 14MB finished in a few minutes, eventually gave up & switched off when the 29MB froze at 4.1MB & showed download times of 11+ hours.
Restarting didn't seem so cool 'cos I only have 100MB left on that sim.

Anyone saying that VC data hasn't gone for a loop the last 6 months is lying.

btw. VodacomData can I have some PM's as well?

@evilstebunny - make sure to use DAP or flashget to manage and resume your failed downloads. I hadn't used those download managers in 10 years while I was overseas, but now that I am back and connected to arguably the worst networks I have ever come across, I've had to learn to use them again.
Good luck with Vodacom btw, they are too busy trying to screw people out of money in Congo and god only knows where else now that this market is tightening up.

Guys, if it helps at all (which I know it doesn't, I'm sorry), I have reported this problem again and again, time and again...

Nothing will be done.
At best they will slap an antennae in your face, and then leave it at that; Even if the antennae does nothing towards solving he problem.

+1 to that. How does an antenna solve a problem on the IP network?

Hmmmmmmm I think all our complaining sparked some investigative interest at VC. All of a sudden my phone is connecting instantly to 3G since this morning where before it would take at least 15-20sec!! I will try my 3G HSDPA modem tonight at home and hopefully it will be better!!!!

Yeah Edduck.
Complain enough and they will reset the towers etc in your area.

That solution lasts about 48-72 hours, possibly more, depending on amount of users. Best I have had was 4 days.
Then you're back to square one all over again.

I have been going through this for years now.
The local Vodacom tech staff here has even admitted to my face that the towers are grossly overloaded, yet nothing is being done about it.
