have you tried the normal steps? switch off the WiFi on the router, change the channel and, switch it back on? maybe just try and reset the router to reconfigure it? i'm not sure how you come to this conclusion I have two PC's that run almost 24/7 on WiFi and never have issues. Its not a mystical force, if there is major interference yes you will have issues, if you have a weak signal yes you will have issues. If you are having problems and that kind of stuff is fine then check yr wifi drivers on the laptop or maybe the card is kaput

I would sudgest going there with yr laptop and do some testing/troubleshooting. Unless its a hardware issue you should be able to sort it out

My wireless setup works 100% at home. I got a pc that used to run weeks off wireless without issues. It's just, I set up a lot of wireless setups all over Pretoria, and regarding hardware and setups and makes, there is always something that goes wrong at some point. My wireless at home I know well enough and I know the hardware, but it's rare that I set up wireless and everything goes smooth from step 1....Mind you, I did have a setup last week where it did. But within 3 days something went wrong, but in the end it was the clients existing infrastructure that caused it.

@raycomp, maybe it's just the way you describe it, but it really does sound like the landlord does not want to share his internet. Do him the favor of enabling him to try to fish for a student who does not need internet. Get your gal a new place. Besides, anyone who needs too much bandwidth to share is not someone you want your daughter around:-P

Thanks all for the input. I had another discussion with the landlord and offered to do some tests and he refused. Conclusion: I get the impression that for some or other reason he no longer wants to give her access and is using this as an excuse. I have given him notice and we are out loooking to find her another flat in Pretoria.

Once again thanks to all

All the best with that! I read into the situation right I guess....living here all my life I can interpret well-explained behavior of a Pretorian...sigh!

If you can get a working neotel connection, this could be a good solution for you. It doesn't affect the landlord if you don't have to install an antenna. It's worth investigating.
