Has anyone tried these uncapped accounts from Axxess?
I would really like to go for the 384 fibre option at the end of this month.
Will not be going away this December and it would be great to download without worrying about caps (Xmas present to me :D).

you did see this part on the page....

Pricing will be increased on the 1st of January 2009 due to the weakening of the Rand / Dollar. More information will be posted here closer to the time.

...still the same old FakeUncapped business

the threshold doesnt apply after hours 8-8 :)

So if I only download during the weekends and after hours (8pm onwards) during the week then I get my full speed?
Well if that is so then it’s truly uncapped to me. Might even think about getting the 1024k package then :p

works

I have the equivalent package from Openweb, and I am never going back to buying bandwidth by the gig.

Was able to move 106gb one month. You do however need to do it in moderation. The rolling cap can hit hard it you download with no end in sight.

While openweb is more expensive, I am sticking with what i have until the axxess pricing is announced.

A rose by any other name would smell so sweet.

This stinks

1.Rolling threshold of 5GB, 10GB..... or else we reduce you to a dribble

2. Completely shaped
3. Must still pay for your ADSL connection and line so add R400 odd to the package.

Compared to my 256kbps (actual), uncapped, unshaped, fibre, WiMAX connection from Screamer for R1099 this is a loser.

I'm getting the openweb one at the end of the month, can't wait, have my giganews account all setup. Tested the connection last week and it was flying.

Even when I get throttled (during working hours), its still 100% better than the crap speed I get on saix news server

Well the account from openweb is R999 (I only have a 384 line), and from giganews you get a number of accounts depending on the size you want to download. I took the platinum account because I luv em news servers.

Now I spend about R459 on a 10gig saix acount, and then anything between R120 and R360 on a axxess local only acount for the saix news server.

So I decided, screw uhm, time that I spoil myself (and I am mostly online after hours and during the weekends)

And I have to say when I tested it last week it was pure bliss, you know with the saix news server, you press the connect button, and then sit back and wait and wait and wait. And if you are lucky it will connect in a minute or two.

With this one, pressed the connect button and BAM!!!! All ten threads connected immediately, and in an instant I was downloading at 40kbs

Yip that it is. I wish all of these major broadband suppliers would die a slow agonizing death, even neotel, because seriously, have you seen the coverage in pta?? I am sure they are getting a storm of subscriptions from sunnyside.

So now I have resigned myself to paying more but atleast I have the love of my life, a news server...oh and the wife of course *whispers to news server: "dont worry my pretty she does not suspect a thing"*

in time, it seem that the is's fiber network might get too saturated - if not already. using a semi unshaped at most i get 2weeks per month's full joy out of it. usually turns up dead around end of the month or the very beginning. Then you are blessed with excessive latency or spickyness.

...i mean how many times have there been peering issues the past few weeks ?
