Uncapped ADSL options

I'm gonna give it a go tomorrow - 1 March. Throttling during the day isn't a problem for me - 1Gb prepaid is enough for normal surfing during the day.

Not being pedantic, simply trying to avoid you only having uncapped for one day :3
 
i still reckon there's a catch somewhere we dont know about yet. i'll rather sit back and wait for the posts to come thru before doing the 'ol account swop trick

I agree, hold your horses until the the truth and nothing but the whole truth comes out. :D

Uncapped means UNCAPPED, :mad: NO RESTRICTIONS, :mad: NO THRESHOLDS, :mad: but, in this country the English language gets manipulated.

Its a pity a lot of people get sucked into these deals that are nothing but catches. Call it anything else but, definitely, NOT UNCAPPED.

If the ISP's want to put restrictions at least come out with decent thresholds, lmao at 5gigs :sick: its beginning to sound like a Medical Aid offer.
 
Get the neotel R999 uncapped package. Speeds of up to 2 meg and its completely unshaped with no restrictions?

The problem with most SAIX/IS uncapped accounts is that an ISP normally requires a 12-24 month contract. Whereas Axxess offer theirs on a month-to-month basis.

While not "uncapped" by international standards, the threshold still works out to approximately 15GBs a month - R1000 (if you consider that five 3GB accounts at R200 each work out to about that much anyway.) So, the way I see it, it's 15GBs per month you're paying for and then you get uncapped to boot.

I think it's quite fair by South African standards.

Also, I think it's probably through the IS backbone (I'm not certain on this and it's merely thumb-sucking from my side) so it'd also be unshaped between 17:00-07:00, if memory serves. But again, I'm not sure of this at all.

I'm also curious about this

I remember having the IS Express account some time back, strangely enough some sites were throttled - eg, rapidshare, netload.

I had a look on the website before I signed up... and the R899 is the IS (satt based) solution, and the R999 is the SAIX (cable based)

Decided that satt was NOT the way I wanted to go... :D

And I agree - I wouldn't go near a satellite connection unless I was paid (a large amount) to.
 
Why not? Isn't it just latency thats affected? Not the actual download speed. I need megabytes, not ultra high pings in games. For that I'll use Axxess 626 ;)

Uncapped Express
About the Internet Solutions ADSL Uncapped Express Service
The ADSL Express service has been designed mainly for the conservative business user who requires the assurance of an uninterrupted/uncapped and fixed-cost ADSL service.
The ADSL Express service is a managed service, whereby your usage is monitored and recorded. The service is allocated a certain threshold for the month which is divided into a 10 day rolling window. If you reach your 10 day threshold before the 10th day, your available bandwidth will be halved (e.g. 512 kbps will be reduced to 256 kbps). However, if your consumption is reduced, your bandwidth will be restored to the purchased level.

Uncapped
This is a totally Uncapped package, it is a 1 year contract with IS and they supply you with a router. You have two options 512mbps or 1024mbps, you also get 5 static IP addresses with the package.

I have a webafrica prepaid account and Im very happy with it thank you. You guys also have the BEST service in the industry... cant say the same for bloody axxess!!! :mad:

I can say that if money was not the driving factor, then I would have gone WA uncapped, but its a lot more expensive... :(
