hi all

Could someone please advise me which uncapped ADSL is going to be the best option? I have a 4mb line, and Im spending up to R600 on GB's a month so Im thinking that going uncapped might be the better option here

cheers

Well at the moment im on Gamco's 384k account for R999 a month and the accounts on a 4mb line, and it runs perfectly try have a look at gamco? weekdays tiny bit slow but weekends it flys.. ;)

Axxess Express uncapped 384

The Axxess Express Uncapped 384 (Fibre). This is so far the best I can think of. It comes with a 10 day rolling threshold of 5 gigs. If within 10 days you have used 5 gigs, the account will be throttled to 192kbps. This sucks.

Now for the good part. The restriction is lifted everyday between 8pm and 8am the following morning. During this time your full line speed can be obtained. i.e If your line speed is 4mb, you can download at 4mbps everyday after 8pm and over weekends. And that is on a 384kbps account!

The account will set you back R999 and the after-hours downloads count towards your threshold.

your best bet.. Gamco's nice but they use satellite instead of fibre

I was going to buy a Q9550 this month... Now I read this and I'm so conflicted I could cry :(

I'm looking for truly uncapped. No thresholds or throttling.
Uncapped at 384k -512k.

What he said is pretty clear. And if it's not clear enough the site says it quite accurately:

Right, so I can download at full speed after hours. In the initial 10 days, I can download up to 5GB at full speed during after hours. What happens after those 10 days, can I download at 4Mbit to my heart's content after hours?? :D

From my understanding: 10-day threshold. No threshold after hours. After hours usage still counts to your usage which affects your threshold during hours.

So if I download more than 5GB after hours, my during hours threshold will be met, and I will be limited to a lower speed?

I would like to know for how long I will be limited, and what exactly happens after those 10 days.

ok Im getting a bit confused here...

Im currently with Webafrica Prepaid ADSL and it rocks. I have two accounts, a shaped account for surfing etc and unshaped account for World of Warcraft. What I have found is that the difference between shaped and unshpaed on Webafrica in not huge, well not enough to warrant the price difference per GB. Im going off track... :D

Point is, is there any value staying with Webafrica? Im not sure if their pricing is competitive for there no-cap accounts

also could someone please explain to me how the speed actually works. I have a 4MB line, and I think I understand that after 8pm the line runs at full speed, but the rest of the time it runs at 384? So if I come home at lunch time, and I wanna browse the internet I do so at 384? Isnt that really crap??

maybe its a semishaped account with a threshold :p

can someone shed some light on the below please??

From 8am to 8pm you are throttled if you have gone over your ten day amount of GBs, after 8pm you get full 4mb/s line speed thru to 8am and the same on weekends so if you have a 384, 512 or 1mb account with a 4mb line you get 4mb/s after hours, dont know how or why it just is :)

Ok that makes sense, thanks for explaining...

Ok so if I download 5GB on day 1, for the remaining 9 days I will have a throttled account, except after 8pm and on weekends. During these remaining 9 days, would I then be able to download after 8pm at full speed??

Thanks, throttled during the day won't be a problem.

Hmmm. Mmm...
