Uncapped ADSL remains, says MWEB

I cancelled my account on condition that the local will become capped in April and it was accepted. They say it's because of SAIX putting pressure on them to 'lighten the load'...

Exactly the reason why SEACOM will not save us :'(

Whats the point of internet if it is only local ?

Local content would thrive, you can make your own dvd and send it to your buddy. Who cares what you do with the bandwidth the thing is there is no worries to it. Or you can webcam all day to your family that lives in another province.

ICASA should make it uncapped, unshaped, and and only charge per throughput not per data usage BS.

I was able to sign-up in just a couple minutes over the phone, and the sales consultant said that proof of address, bank statements, etc wasn't even necessary to send through. I just had to give my name, id number, a password and tell them the service I wanted, and within minutes I was able to connect :)

I had the same experience. I was surprised how efficient it was.

ICASA lacks the ability to make toast let alone legislation.

They've already tried and failed with the ADSL regs which are responsible for this entire mess in the first place.

Seriously - mybroadband should promote locallist a bit more... people on this forum still think local cap is useless. since i found eufa.com (with videos noggal), its not too much of a pain to be on local :D

haha, yeah I try my best to let people know about the site and all the cool things people can do with local-only cap but there is still lots to do to get the message out.

does anyone think mweb will charge for additional local usage for march? i'm quite worried about this as telkom did something similar. however i do know about the notice that telkom put on their site and that apparently mweb has no such notice. question is, did telkom put up that notice before the first person was charged & complained or AFTER the fact. i dont wanna be charged for usage AND THEN all of a sudden they put up a notice. any thoughts?

You didn't get an e-mail about the new pricing at your Mweb address?

See my Sig for my opinion about Mweb! :D

The email was there... conincidentally while I was in the UK on training, and since the MWEB sales consultant told me not to worry about the email account, because nothing important is sent there.

I didn't!

I specifically asked him to change the email address to my gmail account that I do check, and he was kind enough to tell me that the system doesn't allow him to change email addresses and I don't have to worry about it anyways...

I am so blessed that he conned me!
