Uncapped ADSL

Joining Openweb was the best move i've made.

I've considered ODS, but honestly, when a company start quoting "Excluding VAT" then i'm truely put off. It comes across as dishonest, and a cheap shot at trying to look cheaper. - No offense to you or your company WickedWeasel - just the way it comes across.

There are a fair amount of people that's on Openweb, and i think i've read a handful of complaints, otherwise there are LOTS of compliments which are well deserved. I can't say i've heard any complaints about ODS, come to think of it, i don't know anybody ever joining ODS - those who have considered have gone with openweb due to ODS's VAT thing, and joined Openweb because of their fantastic reputation!. So...

I highly recommend Openweb
As far as i remember, Openweb won an award as best ISP, Yes?

Comments and Suggestion taken.

Most of our clients do not use the MyADSL forum, our clients are mainly business users as well as some power users.

I do agree that Openweb are a good ISP, I have never for 1 minute said they are not. But with the new year, we will

enter the broadband market in a large way, and in time there will be many good reviews of ODS on the Forums. Until

Then.

Lab dont take this the wrong way.... but quoting without vat is the real way to do it. Its Marketing 101 plus business 101.
in the real world one doesnt quote prices inc vat unless its stated.
If openweb said their price inc vat that would be a professional manner of approch

Is good to see both Openweb and ODS trying their best to compete with each other's service. Both are good ISPs which satisfies their ADSL users. I hope with this competition, we, the ADSL users can get good quality uncapped ADSL with low price. (Honestly... SA's ADSL usage cost is way too high and unreasonable... >.<)
PS: MrBeep, when are you going to lunch the special R999 uncapped again? I will be the first to apply… since the ADSL price does matter to this poor little user (me) here….

and the 384k for 799coming back anytime soon?

Yea there is still a lot of us on 384 ADSL and would like a chance to try uncapped bandwith.
Come on MrBEEP............ bring back uncapped 384 accounts.

I could be wrong, but I believe according to SARS, it is illegal to advertise ex VAT...

Mfour show me where you get that info from?

If it was so illegal then business would be closing down... since most companies do it. Note that it has to say EX vat

Snoopy - perhaps if i go to rectron or one of the suppliers i expect to see exl. Vat, but not from a service provider offering to the public. You just don't go into a shop and buy products that's Excluding vat!. However, WickedWeasel's explanation pretty much puts it to rest.

I would agree with you there... that you dont expect it to the end user.

But in saying that the argument here is that you think its wrong...im trying to say its not wrong but just a way of marketing the product and depending on how you work the product you would put ex or inc

That is correct. Remember, most businesses who quote ex vat are dealing with other businesses who can claim back the vat so that is the part that is relevent to them. Companies that deal with end users normally quote inc vat as that is the cost the end user sees.

...384 uncapped.

i agree offer all the lines speeds with uncapped offerings :)

Hey MrBEEP
It seams you got ready market for 384k uncapped ADSL..............
Is there a reason you can not offer this service??

Since Ive had ADSL (About 3 years) ive used 4 different ISPs and out of those 4, OpenWeb is the only one ive had no problems with and the fact that I can still use the internet after my 5GB cap is really awesome.
Just my 2c...

I have the uncapped 1024k from Openweb, may I just say I am blown away by the service I received and the quality of the product. The price, as I was part of the special, is welcome even though it is way beyond what I would like to pay.

I feel that this post was a little juvenile and as a consumer I will be with the company that can offer me the best uncapped solution. No loyalties but it is fair to say I have not seen another company like Openweb. Giving away free accounts to loyal customers. A web presence that actually exists and always wanting to innovate in a market where they could just sit back like most companies and take the small slice of the monopolistic pie which most other businesses are happy to do.

I think of any player in the South African internet business the ISP's, limited to a handful, are the only entities that seem to want to aid us in this desert of hell that we call our current connective situation.
I for one would like to thank both ISP’s who have posted here since they are striving to keep us in the loop; it has been an exciting year for broadband in South Africa. I mean in the last few years we have seen local only accounts, proxy services for browsing and gaming and a myriad of other little services that has helped out many. Yes this is not how it is supposed to be, but you the ISP’s are the only guys who can find freedom within the restraint. I salute you (Especially Openweb since I am with them and love them and they can have my first born since I have uncapped ADSL) :)

After calling IS, and investigating this claim, it was clearly stated that IS does NOT provide a different level of service to different resellers.

(Indeed I could've saved myself the call, because I knew this already.)

It was also added that all resellers share the exact same shaping policies.

Unless you provide evidence of your claim, you are participating in false advertising.

Not to attack openweb/mrbeep or anything but from what I have heard it seems like IS does provide different levels of service.

On openweb we used to be able to download more than 30gig local and not get capped and then it got cancelled by IS??

But with some other isp's that also resell IS accounts we are still allowed to download more than 30gig locally and not get capped.
