Uncapped broadband prices: ADSL vs Wireless services

One thing with wireless internet service providers (WISPs) are QoS which includes many ingredients in running a reliable and viable network operation and option to the market. Furthermore, pricing may include value added services, SLA's (in this case residential) etc.
 
When I was with screamer I had a very nice experience. Pings were low and speed was always good, for 384kbps back then. Regarding QOS. I run something like that at work. We only have a 4mbps ADSL connection at work, the higher up's have minimum 1mbps and max 4mbps on priority 1, whereas the worker bees have minimum 128k and maximum 512k on priority 8. Eventually every person in the workplace will reach their max speed assigned to them if the network is not busy. I see small wisp's operate on this type of method in my opinion. But the bigger wisp's should also have bigger lines for their clients. Unfortunately the first wisp I was with normally throttled you if you used 2GB of data a day (who can say in 2006 they had 1mbps uncapped for R399 a month and consumed at least 100GB of data?), a mac clone normally fixed this for a day or two lol.

I'm pleased MyBB is giving WISPs the exposure they deserve. They are competitive in every respect and their overall high growth rate reinforces this.

yup have to agree. really happy with their service and dedication. and a single cost-for-internet is a win for me.
Level-7 , although the cheapest, gives some of the best internet around (although coverage is mostly Centurion to my knowledge)
 
iburst shouldn't be on the list, they hardly work so a 10 gig account feels like uncapped. With iburst I never hit 10 gigs with a 2 meg modem but with 2 meg uncapped adsl I am hitting 5 times that easily
 
I had snowball 10mbps

its fantastic - when it works.

after much hassle i eventually went back to 4mb adsl because it was a lot more reliable
 
Not sure this comparison is worth anything... Telkom 2mbps uncapped is bloody expensive.

Other ISPs offer bundles including Telkom ADSL line and uncapped data, for:

WebAfrica: R349pm (2mbps)
Afrihost: R397pm (2mbps)
MWEB: R339pm (2mbps)

So this article is actually pretty rubbish!
 
Thanks for this article , Telkom recently told me I have to wait for 5 Months for my adsl installation after many fone calls and emails and frustrations !! I am just about to say "Eskom you" Telkom , any recommendations ? I live 5 mins from CBD Cape Town

For R499 for 10Mbps uncapped fibre, who wouldn't want it. If I could get it I wouldn't hesitate!
 
Do the wireless providers cover only certain areas or is it national coverage
