uncapped internet will only get better

I think that as time goes on, more and more people will run out of ***** to download.

The more this happens, I imagine the network congestion will ease and perhaps the shaping will ease a bit.

I for one, have run out of things to download
Seriously?
This only means u are not trying hard enough!!
I doubt we will ever run out of stuff to download

The 'abusive' users will never ease up, they will not be content unless their lines are running full tilt 24/7, screwing the rest of us over.

I doubt that. People will just move to 1080 hd content. Besides, the size of the internet doubles about every 5 years.

yeah, it's not obvious to ppl just how much data is propagating out there. lets take only UseNet as an example
All groups
Total number of files in database: 125204510
Total number of parts (messages) in database: 10152954250
Total size of files: 3.46 PB

as for having proper affordable uncapped one-day, sure we will. but imo LLU will need to happen first. our overstressed last mile can barely handle 'broadband' atm, nevermind uncapped. and with LLU new infrastructure and the maintenance of it is the responsibility of the ISP and Telkom cant be the scapegoat anymore

I think with time people may grow bored with the uncapped situation. At the moment it's a situation of feeding starved masses.. but if fed all starvings will probably become non-existant or only linger for a few. Maybe in a couple of years when bandwidth becomes really in-expensive like elsewhere and there is really more than enough for the demand.

There's always something to download. This is especially true if you love movies, music, series and games.

More and better content gets released all the time.

There really is no "end of the line" when it comes to the internet.

Well im gonna get flamed for this, but how many series and movies are you watching that you download constantly all the time
social life?
I understanding downloading seasons to catch up, but once you all up to date with the latest shows/movie/games... There isnt enought to be downloading constantly. I mean, its an episode a week for each show. A couple of decent movies a month. A couple of decent games a month.

Basically comes down to how lame your life really is that you sit in front of your PC 24 hours a day to watch the 100's and 100's of GB that you download? :erm:

Gonna do some maths quick and repost :)

Oh so you set the rules of society? This is the general problem with people, every single person wants to set the living standards for someone else. let me tell you something, whatever you do in this petty life, no matter how big it is will boil down to NOTHING in the end. We are all on a tiny little rock in a massive Universe so just STFU and do whatever you want.

Give him an ADSL line, I'm willing to bet money he's up for a challenge to see who could possibly download the most =)

I for one can vouch that my download que never used to run out. I also don't have DSTV or satellite TV. Why pay for something that you can get for free ? There are loads of video on Yotube about any subject, there are loads of free IPTV sites in HD. Many of them you would have to pay for on DSTV. Everything on TV can be download for free and viewed at your own leisure, in HD format. It's only because of SA's crazy high broadband prices and caps that entertainment via internet has not taken off yet.

As an example: Just remember, people in EU/USA are watching the World Cup soccer live in HD on their PC's using IPTV. They are in Europe for god*s sake ! We are here in SA where it is happening and WE can't even watch on IPTV ! Have you ever heard of Youtube in full Super HD ? Or Vimeo, also full HD video in stereo/surround ? Anything on TV can be found on Youtube plus how-to's on everything else. Love music ? Then all the music videos of your fave artist are all on there, in HD, and you can make a playlist of your fave videos or watch a playslist from someone else. Why waste time with watching on TV and interrupted by commercials ?

If you have a fast (4mb or better) connection, download the www.filmon.com IPTV client. It's the best one I've come across with listed IPTV (100's, if not thousands of live TV stations) from across the world, lots of them in full HD.

How about just downloading the Vuze client, allows you to just watch loads of shows/music/games using bittorrent as the base.

You'll never be bored.
