I want to buy a 1GB account online via credit card. Is it once off or billed monthly? If It's billed monthly, how do I make sure I cancel it before next month?

1GB monthly you can just specify to cancel the service at the end of the month, easy to do from the Web Africa console.

So Telkoms new sophisticated accounting method for users is
If bandwidth usage > Cap then Local only.
whereas what we want is
IF International BW usage > Cap Then local only

Its a good period for Telkom to do testing and seeing if their network suddenly falls over with all the (ab)usage. Somehow I doubt they wont handle it.

Another aspect of this local browsing is seeing how many 'local' websites actualy host overseas or who have parts of their sites hosted overseas.
I note seef.co.za seems to get its images served by a non local server, images.seef.com...presumably because of bandwidth costs. Anyone noticed other such sites?

The most noteable example of this is google.co.za

With an IS local only account there is a small degree of international access (presumably some form of shared access of their excess capacity). This helps IS users overcome these sort of problems.

When you get an international adserver on a local page. Best way to handle is to add to your HOSTS list. -> Firefox has a useful facility (tools->page info->media) to show the media links on a page.
