Uncapped local ADSL bandwidth kicks in

Maybe if the SAIX one dies, the IS one will be given a breather.

I wish IS would just upgrade the damn thing. Don't they realise it's the primary reason for 3/4 of their local-only customers? I'm damn sure the reason it never retains anything is because it's got no hard drive space - how expensive would it be to upgrade that, for god's sake?

Looks like telkum is trying to make money like the banks do... with debt.
It's like a credit card, buy/use now pay later. They probably hope people will be careless and over spend/surf because they're not being physically capped anymore and are not checking their usage... they WANT you to go over the cap just like the banks WANT you to over spend on your credit cards.

Do we know if they do charge for local bandwidth what the cost of local bandwidth per GB is?

Hey Telkom I have a slogan for ya:

Local is lekker and FREE!

Use it!

They will charge for local, and if it's a discounted price (unless they mean discounted from the normal int. price) then it should be less than R17/GB.

Yeah I can, my Web Africa Account does not register local bandwidth, only international. When you download local, it remains unchanged.

That doesn't happen with me... I downloaded lots of stuff from "the local server that shall not be mentioned" and my cap in November went bye bye super fast :( I'm also on WebAfrica... 10 Gig Cap

so for the time being, I shouldn't switch from IS to Telkom? There seems to be a great divide between between who gets capped and people who claim to carry on locally uncapped. Maybe I should keep my local IS account which is carrying on merrily past the 30g cap and get another SAIX account to test? What is the best - Webafrica?

Looks like after the sudden "problems" WA had, local bandwidth DO count towards your cap.

However my grabit still goes max
