I am really hoping you can offer me some sound advice here as a private user. I am currently using Mweb as my ISP and a Telkom Home DSL 512 line. I am finding, due to the fact that I am using one particular high volume site a great deal, that I am using in excess of 10 gig a month, which has to be paid for in these ridiculous 1 gig and 3 gig traunches, an extremely expensive exercise. I would also like to upgrade the speed of my line, but where I live in Johannesburg, the highest speed available to me is 512 according to Telkom. I am finding that the Telkom costs of Home DSL of R317.54 when added to the Mweb line usage costs on the usage I am going through to be absolutely crazy price and a real rip off.
Can anyone please advise me who I should contact with regards to finding an ISP than can supply a higher speed line that gives me uncapped usage, but also supplies good customer support. I am not au fait with this technical stuff, so I am not sure what changes need to be made regarding wiring, installation etc, so as much info and detail as possible would be a real bonus for me.
Thank you in advance for any advice you are all able to offer me.

Okay, here we have an example of a user that has stated under controlled conditions he is using 10GB or more and would use even a greater amount of data if he is able to know he is uncapped.
He goes on to say he is with M-Web meaning his costs for internet probably runs into around R800 - R1 000 just for the ISP portion.
if telkom say no speed higher than 512 is available, you just have to wait till they upgrade your exchange..which may take some time....
but as for uncapped internet, you can get openweb as a ISP, they got uncapped 512, on speial for 999 rand, which is cheapest available in SA. if you were using 10gigs of mweb @ 300per 3 gig, thats about the same price as just getting the uncapped from Openweb.
go to openweb.co.za and check out their packages. you should also check out webafrica.co.za, if you dont want uncapped, then 10gig accounts are available from both ISPs for much cheaper than you were getting from mweb. Both ISPs offer great customer support.
The recommendation, OpenWeb, here is indeed a really smart move, obviously beaing aware of the conditions that are applied to the uncapped accounts and also the I.S network in its current status.
Uncapped 512kbps @ R999 sounds to be a good solution, but he goes on to recommend WebAfrica. WebAfrica costs R490 for 10GB. if he spends the R800 often he can get 2x WebAfrica for R980 and have 20GB to work with. 4x TelkomInternet costs R996 and probably will get you around 60GB on a 512kbps line, but this is useless because you can get OpenWeb uncapped.
1x TelkomInternet basically always gets you 10GB for R249, my lowest being capped ever was 13GB. Highest 18GB (all post May 2006).
I continue to recommend the WebAfrica and TelkomInternet combo because TelkomInternet is actually better value for money if you are not affraid to use the account, and if you are capped being able to fall back onto a WebAfrica prepaid account, or something else that I have recommended before on the ISP thread.
The situation above probably will send the client to OpenWeb for an uncapped connection, but if a person is looking for 10GB of access, 10GB
WebAfrica would probably not be the best option, TelkomInternet with WebAfrica prepaid as backup or even 2x TelkomInternet would most probably be because of the fact that Relaxed Capping does allow you much more for less. If the client notices he is being cut off at 4GB then there is a problem and he/she should switch but that does not happen often according to stats on the website and my personal experience from my own connection and friends using TelkomInternet.
If someone can see my point great, otherwise,
I decided to rather put this as my reply here than make a new thread, but my question based on many threads I have been reading, people are recommending other ISP's that would actually cost the end user more per month than a TelkomInternet + <insert ISP> combo. I have been told many times already I need to cancel both my TelkomInternet accounts, and rather get a 10GB WebAfrica, but 10GB... I pay R498 with TelkomInternet and get bout 30GB - 40GB on my 512kbps line.
That was my personal point, if a user is being capped low maybe reconsider. Do keep in mind the value of being able to utilize the relaxed capping from an ISP such as TelkomInternet, the uncapped solutions from I.S if your budget allows, the prepaid aspect of WebAfrica and the Local Caps from OpenWeb. These can all be very useful, especially if bought and used correctly together.
