Hi there,

I'm undecided on a router to replace my crappy Netgear DGN2200.

Needs:
  • Should be able to handle HD streaming.
  • Have great range.
  • Gigabit ports
  • Dual-band

Budget: R1400. Can be stretched to R1700.

Options:
  • Cisco Linksys EA3500
  • Cisco Linksys EA4500

Some other options I had a look at:
  • Netgear WNDR4000 N750
  • Asus RT-N56/N66

I really like what I read on the Cisco's. But can't decide if it wil be worth the extra R300 (or so) to go with the EA4500.

The Netgear N750 (WNDR4000) and N900 (WNDR4500) also get some great reviews, but I'm a bit sceptic because of my current Netgear.

And now with "AC" routers entering the market..should I wait and get a future-(at least for now)-proof router? (Cisco EA6500)

Has anyone tried the above mentioned Cisco App Enabled Routers?

Thanks..!

I can't advise on the other routers, but I am extremely happy with my Asus RT-N66u. Yes it is pricey, but for me it is worth it.

Thanks. I love Asus products. Own a Transformer Prime tablet and many motherboards, graphic cards from Asus. But haven't tested their networking products before.

The main reason why it is not on top of my list is the price..

Asus RT-N56 I got one of these the other day and it's awesome.
