When is it sexy and when is it unacceptable behaviour?

Scenario 1
At a public event tell the SO to do something for you in a manner that if you were home she would tell you do to do it yourself but because you're in public she can't bare to say that you in public so she does with you say with a smile that says "I can't believe this guy"

Scenarios 2
Same event ask SO to do something similar to for you and met with angry glares.
(The guy in scenario 2 eventually backs down and says he was joking but you know he's going to eviscerated in the car ride home)

In my experience if Scenario 1 on the other hand if it ended up with a slap on her ass it would have resulted in wild monkey sex at nearest available room with a lock.

So why the vastly different reactions to a very similar situation?
