Undersea cable plan tangled in acrimony

Hell, they're just a bunch or racist money grabbing *bleep*s. The struggle is over, now it is about what you can grab for yourself. Selfish *bleep*s. When this country goes to hell in an handbasket we'll know who is really to blame, even if they continue to blame the past.

South African companies could use their dominance to compete unfairly in other countries. We have a responsibility as the government to ensure there is fair competition. We are not willing to look at something that is clearly discriminatory. We couldn’t rest with a clear conscience.

OK, wait, I don't get something here. So MTN, Telkom and Neotel are ALREADY investors. So whether the cable lands here or not, the STILL own 27% of it. What's to stop them from taking advantage of the little guys in other countries anyway? Is Lyndall going to pass a law that prevents them from investing in enterprises in other countries in Africa??
