Understanding Halal Certification Schemes

Its actually got to do with the food preperation and packaging at the warehouse, not really the end product.

Many of the workers in the food factories are muslim, and therefore refuse to work on food preparation that is not halaal certified.
They cannot unfortunately be fired, or not hired due to their belief, so instead food producers have dropped pork and non-halaal ingredients from the supply line.
i.e. Bully Beef used to be made with pork fat, nowadays it is halaal chicken fat instead due to the issues it created.

At the end of the day ,if it has a halaal certificate , just dont buy it or eat in that establishment.

I wonder how this is affecting the local pork industry, its a product eaten by the majority of the country but but now because Halal is becoming the default for so many products they must be getting hit badly.

Its becoming like a specialist product all of a sudden.

Side note: If this was about Jewish dietary certifications this thread would no doubt be labelled anti-Semitic, which it would be, but since it's muslims we'll just continue the hate...

The difference being that you dont find Jewish Kosher organisations going to such lengths to remove pork from food products or fast food outlets just to suit their particular fairytale dietry requirements.
You have a dietry requirement , good for you, dont force that onto others.
