So my Hisense Q8600 packed up and I'm being credited as its still under warranty, but can't be replaced as its EOL

Now what do I get to replace it?

Use case:
  • Streaming
  • PS5 (needs to handle a 4K 120 signal and have VRR)
  • Needs to be 65" (or larger)
  • Sound not important as I have a decent home theater setup already
  • OS not important as it will have a media PC connected at all times
Budget: I'll get R16k back, but I'm willing to push the budget to R20k-ish

Options (so far):
  • Hisense U7K (tough to find in 65")
  • Hisense U8K (55" is cheap, but 65" is way more expensive at the moment)
  • TCL C755 (not sure what major differences are between this and the C845)
  • TCL C845 (not sure what major differences are between this and the C755)

Not sure you'll get that for that price

Which one?

The U8k...yeah. The 55" can be had for around R16k, was hoping that there would be a 65" for R20ish
The U7K is R16999
The C755 is R17999
The C845 is R22999

Yeah especially for the vrr part :( and being 65"

Yeah, but we're talking twice the price here.

I'm sorry, but those TV's are not "twice as good". If they were I'd consider spending the money.
Yeah maybe 10% better at best :-), but they get the prestige. I've only seen one TCL and it was my dads 32" which was okay. Though I've been looking at replacing my old 58" N5000 in the room with a better 55" so TCL is in the running.

I had the pleasure of playing some PS5 on a C1 I believe it was and it looked really good.

The deep blacks and color clarity is really something else. Certainly noticeable, but not enough to make me run out and spend twice my budget on one.
Spotted this
Definitely my front runner at the moment/close to the U7K (although I dont really want to support Hisense after the hoops they've made me jump through)

Did quite a bit of reading over the weekend and it seems the chipset in the C845 is older than the C755, with the former suffering from some issues with VRR. This does not appear to be an issue with the newer C755.

Pity the A8H is hard to come by, there is a Toshiba oled that is around 17k but it's more like the A8G no 120hz
Though I've not really used 120hz much on my A8H
I mean this was going for 10k

^ Came here to say this
Cool story. Except I have a large lounge and my couches are a decent distance from the TV.

A 65" TV is basically a bare minimum, so I'm in for at least R40k for an LG OLED (CS3).

Explain to me how that is in the parameters of my original post? Better yet, convince me that I need to spend that R40k and I'll do so.
