Unfriendly websites

IMO anyone still using dialup either cannot get broadband in their area and is automatically excused from the following critique, or hardly ever connects to the internet anyway, or uses dialup often to connect to the internet and could get broadband but is too stupid to realise that broadband will cost less than dialup during business hours and would enhance their life.

At least CT has a website. Most cities in SA has nothing.
So we should be grateful for what we get huh? Like our potholes are smaller than yours type of thing.:o

As if it's difficult to add .pdf onto the end of a file so it will use the correct .exe to load. Who are they employing, school kids?

Amen to that!
I know people who are still on dailup.
DOC/ICASA/Telkom's fault

dof comment. To me the article is more about poor web design - overuse of the 'Oh wow' factor.

During business hours, you should be doing your business, and not 'enhancing your life'...

Have had my share of websites with poor search engines, poor layout and illogical layouts.

I dislike websites who focus on spreading the glitz and not caring a thought for end-user experience. Eyecandy does not always make an useful site.

True, but if you're getting the basics wrong, have been advised so and still do it, then you shouldn't be running the site.

Dear RPM. You really don't endear your self to many when you call dial-up users stupid.

I do also note that you refer to NMMU but no link !! All the articles in mybroadband show a total absence of links.

Dear authors. Take the time to put at least one link per article. please

Being owner of a web design company, I can tell you that clients aren't always easy to work with...they sometimes want the wrong things even when advised otherwise...and as they pay the bills at the end of the month, you need to give them what they want.

Dear voipnow,

Please learn to read and see it was IC commenting on dail up users and the word stupid was mentioned. Maybe refrain from putting words into other peoples mouths and put it into the right persons mouth?

Thnx bye!

Was just about to post much the same, but in case it doesn't get through to voipnow:

@voipnow, you need to apologise to rpm for accusing rpm of posting what I in fact posted, furthermore I stand by what I posted, maybe read it again.

This particular article was written by and attributed to "Hans vd Groenendaal, EngineerIT", as for no link to NMMU, here is a [hopefully useful] tip: educational institutions in SA can usually be found on the internet by tacking on .ac.za, for example www.NMMU.ac.za, failing which there is always Google...

My gripe with just about all the recreation, entertainment and restaurant sites is that they do not have their GPS coordinates.

GPS coordinates, certainly on a web page, should be considered to be part of an address and contact info, similar to the postal code code or the telephone number.
