Very nice, but I reckon you could buy an old SAMIL, completely restore and equip it like that Unimog for like R500k.

One of those "nice to have" toys indeed. Only problem I have with them is the high centre of gravity, which makes them roll over a bit too easily, but then you should not literally try and go "anywhere" with it and you'll be fine. A very capable vehicle none the less.

I'd also rather go for a Samel, and spend some cash on it.

No, don't think so, well at least not made by MB. It was something produced locally by one of the truck/military companies. Think the price was about R1mil.
