There's two group of modules per level of the registered course. Group A modules are always mandatory and group B well I'm not sure. What I want to know is can you graduate and get your degree with some group B modules outstanding?
See the image attached to see what I'm referring to.

Similar thing happened to me.
I could only take 3 out of 4 of the Group B modules as i didnt do HCI in 1st year.
UNISA confirmed that i had to do an extra subject to complete my degree.

That's unfortunate. This covid thing has considerably messed with my plans. At least I know all those group B modules I did do were not in vein.

Since you had to take an extra subject, which one did you do?

Yea, just like the guy said. The minimum you have to take to get your degree is: Group A modules, and some Group B modules. Also check the prerequisites in advance, if you want to take certain Group B modules you'll most likely have to take their prerequisite modules. UNISA doesn't tell you any of this stuff unfortunately.

So what was your resolution? Because I have taken all my 1st and second year group B modules and I cant take 2 of the third year group B modules.

Do you mean your first year you took 3 Group B modules, 2nd year you took another 3 Group B modules? Because that's not necessary. You can technically take all the modules but you'll spend more time in university.

No what I meant is that I took my maximum allowed. 1st year: Calculus and Visual programming, 2nd year: Visual programming 2 and Numerical methods. So I didn't take Human interaction nor Formal logic. I dont want to take more modules than the 360 credit

For you 3rd

For your 3rd year Group B you can only take:
APM3711 - Numerical Methods II
COS3751 - Techniques of Artificial Intelligence
COS3712 - Computer Graphics

You have to do either HCI I or Formal Logic I. I myself am doing 12 modules next year because I missed some group B modules

Ok thanks I think I just have to go to UNISA myself and sort this out because why should I have to take more modules than the 360 credits for the degree.

So did they say you can take 12 modules in a single year? I sent emails but no reply yet.

I can only take Numerical Methods II and Computer Graphics
because Artificial Intelligence requires both Formal Logic 2 and Data structures.
You can submit a request to do extra modules if it's your final year. I also heard that some science modules were turning into year modules instead of semester modules which is good for cause I can balance out the work. But you have a good point, Unisa's communication is terrible so I should have 100% confirmation from them before assuming all will be well.

I think you just have to do them both then.

Wait....so you can just graduate with the 360 credits?!
For degree it requires 360 credits so why do more and pay more than what you have done already. Yes Im in my third year next year. And in 2021 I dont want to do year modules. I need to graduate next year.

oh no nvm, I did the calculations and yes you need to do the minimum modules as stated to even get 360 credits

Okay I understand your problem now. I think you can do HCI I and II and get your degree. Since that's 360 credits. Otherwise you have to talk to them.
