Just press the volume down button two times fast. Same difference.Speaking of remotes and gripes with them, why didnt Xiaomi add a "Mute" button on their Mi box remote? I have to use my firestick remote to do a mute. I know it sounds a minor gripe but it's a real nuisance sometimes.
Nope, if its on a high volume you have to press it several times to bring down to the required level. But will try your method and see if it works.Just press the volume down button two times fast. Same difference.

Nope, don't think soHave an old Android phone with IR?
This is my go-to universal remote solution (https://www.takealot.com/broadlink-rm4c-mini-wifi-smart-universal-remote/PLID68586664). I have 3 of them in different parts of the house. Allows me to control air-con, DSTV, old amps etc, all from my phone or any smart-voice solution (Alexa, Google Home etc). You can share your account with anyone else in the house, so that everyone's phone is a versatile universal remote. So how do these universal remotes work?
I have an old Sony amp with surround and if the tv sound go through that its like a million times better experience. But I don't have a remote for the amp so I very rarely use the amp as I then have to switch it on and adjust volume manually.
Can any universal remote work or do you buy specific ones? Will the new ones even work on old systems?
I read on a few of them that you need to set it up with the old remote, which sound funny as most people probably buy them as they don't have the old one anymore.
Tried last night. Doesn't work.Just press the volume down button two times fast. Same difference.
The original remote.Use a child
Tried last night. Doesn't work.
I did that as well, nothing.hold it down ..literally a second and its muted
Yeah that only say for tv's. Did you hook it up to anything other than tv?Go to your local chinese shop that sells electronics among all their stock. Get one of these universal remotes, should be around the R100 mark (got mine for R70). They work so well, I've bought another one just to save the original Samsung tv remote.
