Anybody unlock their old OnePlus device bootloader?

Ive done these things on other devices without any issues, but cant seem to install the drivers. Get some yellow exclamation mark when i check under device manager.. try to update the drivers automatically, but says its already installed latest driver.

Windows 10 pc, so not sure if that is the issue.

ive unlocked oem unlocking, but this seems to be a driver issue it seems.

Which phone/tablet specifically?

You usually need to put the phone into download mode to rewrite the recovery. (Normally a COM port) Then from recovery you have an elevated enough user to write to the OS, hence unlocking the device

OnePlus 6...

Ive done this many many times before.

I have oem unlocking and usb debugging set under dev options

Ive boot into fastboot mode

Ive downloaded the android drivers and oneplus drivers.

Under cmd

Cd downloads
Cd downloads fastboot
Cd downloads fastboot oem unlock

I get the specified path cannot be found. Now im guessing somewhere, that i have the above path incorrect, but the fastboot files are all in the downloads folder. So im sure im pointing to the right directory

Check in device manager if the drivers are installed or with yellow mark

Disable driver signature verification and re install

CMD
bcdedit /set testsigning on

Lol ive done these plenty of times before, but im kind of stumped with this one..
had myself a Oneplus X and what I found out is you need to try different USB ports/Cables, sometimes even repload your USB drivers even

sometimes on a Different PC it works

I think oneplus has a tool, let me try find it that unlocks your bootloader

its for the X, but sure it might work for whatever you have.

had similar struggles with my Wileyfox swift, had to try different cables, different ports, reload USB drivers all manner of things.

luckily you only do this once, afterwards you load your TWRP, ROM, Magisk and GAPPS and Bobs your Uncle, Cousin and Friend.

9th out of 10 time, its the cable, try another cable, try from your car, try from anywhere else, even the original cables sometimes give issues,
and there isnt some hard/fast rule, its like trying to tune an old radio, some can do it perfectly, some struggle tuning a old radio.

you did everything perfectly, did the correct commands,
try my tool, I see a version for yours on XDA as well.

Ive flashed roms for almost 10 years. I know cables can be an issue as well as different ports. I dont think thats my problem. I think this pc, is struggling to install the OP and ADB drivers. And this is causing the machine to not pick up the device when i check

fastboot devices

So im trying to understand why the drivers are not installing. I cant think that Windows 10 might be blocking the installation of drivers.

antivirus? encryption tools?

can be many things honestly, what helped me most is changing cables and trying different USB ports, still remember the pain I went through with the swift,
nothing worked, luckily I could remove its battery and try flash again.

no luck with the tool I linked above?
