UnoTelly loses PayPal support

so no EFT's or debit orders?

You can load your Bitcoin wallet via EFT and also at ATMs at some places , which indirectly implies you can pay for stuff via EFT by using Bitcoin, hence it being the way to go for these sort of things imho. I've found it even work better to send/receive money to and from your local bank account via Bitcoin than via that Fnb-Paypal thing we were all going on about a few years back.

Here's a place to start: https://bitx.co/in/za/en/

I must say, this is a smart way of cutting down some users. I really do wonder if they're able to do something with the CC cards. Damn.

I heard from two people that tried to recently sign up ( in the last 2 months ) with their SA CC and it got declined.

I dont think it's quite hard to do though because, I know with visa, digits 2 to 6 are the bank numbers so all they really have to do is block all non us bank numbers.

Revolut cards (prepaid MC) use an American BIN (539123), load your money to it and then pay.

That would work yes. Luckily for me I signed up ages ago so card still working fine but I think for most, the problem will now be about the amount of hoops you have to jump through just to get US netflix. Not only do you need a service like UnoTelly but now also have to apply for and maintain a prepaid CC... too much hassle for most.

You using revolut? I see they aren't in SA so you can't get a card with in SA?

I do have one, haven't used it yet though.

That does make it a bit more difficult if you can't order with a ZA address though.

Yea, according to their website you can only top-up your account via a bank account located in a specific list of countries and SA is not on this list. So not sure how the OP uses them, unless he got an account outside SA. I don't see any other ways to top up the card.

I have been using another prepaid/virtual cc service Entropay , but they issue a virtual visa card that will always reflect your country of residence, which doesn't solve this issue either, but does helps with security concerns if you don't want to use your real CC (especially if paypal is not available etc).

Why is Paypal governing what a company is doing on the internet, or where ever for that matter? They're suppose to give an unbiased service to whomever wants to use it. What, are they gonna screen everyone now?

Who's gonna go over to CC now? Anyone gonna cancell?

Paypal has been doing these sort of things for years, there are countless blogs/articles and hatred towards Paypal for playing dictator over what can or can not go through their accounts. Fortunately the online payment sphere has been producing alternatives like crazy, i think there's alot of people that won't miss paypal at all.

One of the worst things I read about PayPal was when they withheld 50% of the funding that an indie studio raised on Indiegogo. PayPal said the remaining money would be paid out when the studio submitted receipts and other expense documents, and basically wanted to become their financial overlord and accountant.

The public backlash resolved the situation for that indie studio before long, but it intensified my hatred for PayPal. What the hell gave PayPal the idea that they have the right to do anything more than just hand the bloody money over?

Hello guys,

To begin with I want to apologize for this inconvenience.

It is true that we no longer accept payments from Paypal. Paypal has severed payment processing agreement unilaterally and without prior warning and this development is outside of our control.

We can only accept credit card payments at the time being. I’m happy to let you know that we are working on adding alternate payment methods in the coming weeks so keep an eye out for that!

Here is how to update your payment method: http://help.unotelly.com/support/solutions/articles/216145 . If you have any problems switching over to credit card, please let me know and we can help.

Closing, if you have a preferred method of payment, please leave a comment below and I will pass it to our team.

Thank you,

You guys should investigate the payment gateways utilized by the online casino operators, they would potentially be more forgiving than PP

Visa Checkout is an option (and available in SA) , and this just in ;)

Visa wakes up to the sound of the internet
The finance giant lets developers get access to its payments platform.

The firm has announced the launch of Visa Developer, a way to open up the financial giant's infrastructure to anyone who wants to use it. If you're a company that wants to sell stuff, you can hook your products up to Visa's back end and get all of its skills with very little effort.

Visa's already an investor in Stripe, but clearly wants companies to dump Silicon Valley upstarts like PayPal and Square. The pitch is to show that Visa's greater security, size, history, not to mention that most people already have access to a Visa card, is better than signing your life away to Google.
