Hello. Something I'm a bit confused about in setting up Unotelly. I have my 4Mb ADSL (from Afrihost) feeding into a Telkom Duoplus 300WR modem. The wireless signal is off, but it feeds via ethernet to a Tenda A30 wireless range extender and AP which is sending off the wireless signal in my house to an RK3188 Mini PC which is acting as my media centre on my TV. I plan to run Netflix and Hula on my TV, PC (connected to the Telkom modem) and possibly an iPad 2.

My question is where do I insert the IP (DNS) addresses supplied by Unotelly - the Telkom modem, main PC, media player, or the Tenda wireless AP? Or all of them? The seemingly logical option would be the Telkom router but I'm not sure and don't want to bugger up my network as I'm no expert on fixing these things!

Also, will I need separate Netflix (or Hula, etc) accounts for each device or just a single subscription for all devices on the network?

Thanks in advance!

Set it up on the router.

Set it up on the router.

+1 so in your case Telkom Duoplus 300WR modem - you can put it on each device, but its just so much easier and quicker to set it on the Router. it wont affect speed or traffic, basically only Unotelly traffic goes via their DNS and everything else redirects to Google DNS - most of us have set it up on our routers.

as for subscription, just on subscription for Netflix and you use that login on all your devices.
By default Netflix will allow you to have 4 profiles (I think could be more) and able to watch 2 streams simultaneously

Thanks for the quick replies! I'll set it up on the router this evening and feed back regarding my success! Excited much!

As the others suggested, on the Duoplus - Assuming that the Duoplus is setting up the PPPoE connection to your ISP.
If the PPPoE connection is currently set up on the Tenda, then you'll need to do it there.

In my case, I've also set up my DHCP server to dish out the UnoTelly DNS settings to any connected device, just for added robustness.

Update: Last night I got UnoTelly set up and managed to set up a Netflix account successfully, which works but only on my PC. I set my primary router (Duoplus) with the Unotelly DNS's, as advised above. On my TV via the android TV box I can access Netflix via the Chrome browser without problem but trying to play anything it tells me to install the Netflix app, flicks to the Netflix app download page for a split second then reverts to the standard "page not found" screen on the browser. But when I go to the app in Google Play store it tells me the app is not available for this region.

How do I get around this to get the Netflix app to watch Netflix on my TV? I tried setting up the Unotelly DNS addresses in my WiFi settings on my android device too with the same result.

Thanks, this seems to be the last hurdle.

Also, off topic, how does one get any sports via these channels? There doesn't seem to be sports channels via Netflix or Hulu.

It should work if the DNS is configured correctly on your Router - first try rebooting the router if you haven't tried that yet, also when you go to Unotelly website it should say DNS complete and not DNS setup not complete.
Lastly if that not working maybe try setting the DNS on your Android TV?

For the Netflix app on your android Phone try the first post on this thread

I figured out the problem. Google Play store is connected to my Google account which is registered in SA. It seems to be a hell of a mission to change the location settings for a google account, and this will no doubt have undesired side effects, BUT, I see that one can download the Netflix APK (installation file) from various sources on the web, bypassing the need to get it from the Play store. Apparently that will work to get the Netflix app to work on Android. I'll try that tonight and feed back here if it's worked.

Thanks for all the advice guys!

Or install unohelper to do it automatically.

Thanks, I do have Unohelper installed, which has proven to be of use so far. Yesterday Eskom chopped the power for a while, when it came back my router IP address had changed, Unohelper sorted it out.

Some clever people out there that make these things!
