Have (or had) a CellC SIM in an iPad on prepaid data for about 6 years now. In June I purchased airtime but could not load it. After several hours speaking to at least 12 clueless operators at CellC, was told that this number had been ported to MTN and they could do nothing

Visited MTN and they confirmed it is now an MTN number

But since I had R300 airtime I did not want to waste, asked for it to be ported back to CellC

This whole operation took 6 weeks. On 1st August, turned on the iPad to find several hundred messages from people I did not know. MTN told me to put the SIM in a phone and delete them. As soon as phone was turned on, many hundred of missed call notifications came in. As soon as I was deleting them, another 230 came in. Next day there were 400 more, day after that another 450

Back to MTN. Not their SIM any more. Back to CellC. Am not told this is a recycled number and I might expect "some calls". While I was in the shop, the phone rang 12 times with people speaking foreign languages. CellC can do nothing, but they thought it a big joke

So I purchased a fresh SIM.

This one does not have the same problem as the recycled SIM, but something much stranger

If I dial *101#, (without putting in any airtime) I see a balance of 965Mb data and R1200 airtime. Next day it is 1004Mb data and R1298 airtime. 6 days later it is 1244Mb data and R1556 airtime. Yet I am using data each time I am outside the house. Where is this data coming from? I asked CellC, they have no idea

Can I transfer this airtime to a phone? The iPad cannot make phone calls

*147*333* recipient cellphone number* amount# does not seem to work

Don't have a solution, but data and airtime growing sounds like a good problem to have!
