Hi all

Please help with a bit of advice, I am considering using Untangle for a small business client. My requirements are:

1. Block certain sites (keyord and URL's)
2. Block surfing and allow emails to certain users
3. Allow a certain amount of bandwidth to a specific user (Eg: 200mb a month to user A, 500mb a month to user B0
4. Provide reports on individual users usage

Has anyone implemented Untangle in a coporate enviroment, does anyone know if Untangle is able to do so?

Thanks!

Untangle should be able to do 1; and partial 4, if you use static IP addresses. 2 and 3 requires AD integration which you need to pay for....

there are lots of free linux based firewalls that will provide this level of functionality. you can also look at smoothwall or ipcop.

if you want a paid hardware or software solution, you can look at astaro, fortinet, websense, papercut.

it all boils down to how much time you have to set it up, and what level of support you want, and most importantly, how much you have to spend.

pfsense is also another decent alternative, although it is freebsd based.
