Upcoming Games

It doesn't seem to be anywhere near as bad as Cyberpunk was, and look where that game is now...

Yeah exactly, Stalker looks like a great game that needs some time and loving touches. Miracle that they managed to get this game out considering the circumstances

Have they fixed the 100% boss and goon spawns that rush you?
Yea it's mostly good now, haven't been bumrushed by the goons in about 2 days. Overall it's much better. I get Partisan a lot but he's easy to kill so it's fine.

Got the same impression from that review.

Gave STALKER 2 a spin last night, just 45 mins. Got it on gamepass.
Feels like throwback to stalker era games. Did not experience any technical issues.
Think Nvidia App needs an update, did not show fps, but seemed smooth.
Game already got me 2x with fn jump scares, shooting everywhere full-on panic
After playing for 3 hours I was completely correct about my assessment that the 'reviewer' is a COD casual
Playing on Stalker difficulty and it's really not that hard. Only died twice, both times to an anomaly while looking for artifacts
There should be a new rule that the moment someone complains your health doesn't magically replenish, their opinion should be invalidated immediately

Stalker is back!

Game is great. The sound, atmosphere, music, gunplay. It's back better than ever

Performance is solid, as long as you adjust the settings that suit your rig. Playing on medium setting, 2k, DLSS set to balanced (So not 100% 2k unfortunately) but it still looks gorgeous. Graphics are insane. Haven't experienced any 'micro stutter' that happens in every Unreal 5 game apparently

Haven't played far enough yet to meet some factions, but, sadly, that unique A-life A.I. is not present. Have not seen a single squad of Stalkers just roaming around doing their thing, but that may change

Other complaint is all the English accents. It's just not authentic Stalker without the broken Russian accents.

Jirr the SA lobbies is dead it seems this wipe? Even the Discord is like a ghost town. I gave this wipe a break and only played the first 2 months of previous wipe. Might jump back in for next one in December, depending on if the player base returns?

You still active?
Myself and all the people I used to play with have all switched exclusively to PVE
Chinese hackers have ruined PVP

I figured that. Stalker (and games like Tarkov) falls in a relative niche category for hardcore survival fps that most casual gamers never really play or can get the hang off.

What is surprising is that the all time Steam peak for Stalker is already higher than Dragon Age.

Some might say it's a return to form. If only there was some culture wars thrown in, it would have been perfect...

Difference is they have always been on form and a return is not required

I guess they could've dropped the original mutant design and just used trannies for the mutants to hit the DEI market

Just don't mention Chinese hackers on the Discord.. oh hell, the copium on that channel
I am luckily not on the Discord
But in honesty, I am not very good at the game and would probably call hacker more often than not

We have gotten a few bans from out reports though

Yes, those jump scares are something else—unloading a whole clip into a vanishing enemy!

Yeah, the perfect English irked my immediately.
I am playing on an AMD 5800x3D and RTX 4080. Cranked everything to max on 1440p.
Game really spooky and unsettling.
Will check for update on Nvidia app this evening or use alternative fps tracker.
Wonder if some of the issues being reported have to do with Intel 14th gen cpu instability.

Does stalker have a built in fps counter? It defaulted to Epic quality but i can feel frame dips every now and then.

Depends when the issues were reported
Early reviewers had review builds. Release came with a day 1 patch included

New Nvidia drivers should even it out even more, hopefully

There are definite fps problems in bigger settlements. When I reached the first established village there was a definite consistent drop in frames

Not as bad as the cities in Dragon's Dogma 2, but still noticeable

Agreed, it runs perfectly fine when out and about, a couple of stutters here and there, nothing major. When I hit the village, it turned into a slideshow. The game needs a bit of spit and polish, but it's a ton of fun so far.

Edit:
Here is a decent and honest review of the game as it stands right now.

Yeah, got to first village and the fps drops started to appear. I am still running everything at 1440 epic so I am sure with a little tinkering in the settings things will run more smoothly. Probably have to push shadows down low because that normally tanks any games fps, along with the dev's bringing out patches to better optimize performance.

Overall, atmosphere, graphics, combat is all looking lekker so far. Only thing that I have picked up so far that I don't like (and maybe just me nit picking) is the overall UI especially the inventory. It is a bit clunky, they should have taken a page out of Tarkov on how an inventory should work, but not too phased, there will most likely be a mod soon that makes it work better.

This will definitely be my December game..

So I was not very high on Avowed when some trailers dropped earlier the year. Looked OK but nothing really seemed to get me excited.

That all changed with this preview. Hell, I don't think anybody expected it to be this big. Still not quite digging the art style (too colorful for my liking) but the game looks extremely fun and combat looks really good. It is an absolute no brainer to keep Gamepass up for the next 3 months. Stalker, Avowed (Maybe a little bit of Indy on the side)

@Beyond.Celsus You're giving hope for stalker 2, though one cannot ignore review upon review and comment upon comment on reddit where people have issues.
I'll give it a few months.
