Update on Gautrain pics

Bleugh, I got confuesd .. it's polokwane, not mpumulanga ... and i'm struggling to get info on that facility that was built ... please hold. I'll edit my original messup.

its funny how people think the Gautrain is a lot of money.

It sets a standard which South African should expect and demand.
The host city allocation for transport in some cases barely touched R1 billion, when cities like Madrid plan on spending R90 billion over the next 6 years, Tokyo close to R100 billion.

Our expenditure on transport, vital to our economy, is way too low.

I wonder how long that train is going to last - with the crime and all... Here in CPT, taking the train is like Russian Roulette - you dont know if you will reach your destination alive.

Well, I for one am very excited about the (real) Gautrain!

It covers a lot of the places I go to regularly - Centurion, OR Tambo, Rosebank - so I am really looking forward to not being stuck in traffic.

Sometimes, only sometimes I regret moving to Cape Town. I wonder if they'll extend the Gautrain to Cape Town some day? :(

The Cape Town Airport to CBD rail link construction starts in 2009 for completion by 2012. The BRT system from the Airport to the CBD will be in place by 2010.

Thanks for the info. Are there any artists impressions available. It would be interesting to see.
