I'm currently on Afrihost uncapped on a 384k line. I usually get very close to 384 on it so I cannot complain about quality of service, but 384 is just becoming too slow.

Upgrading to 512 would be silly IMHO- big money difference for small speed difference
So it's 4Mbps for me (my exchange doesn't do 10) but then uncapped becomes too expensive.

I'm currently moving 8-16G per month but might do more when video streaming becomes viable.

So what should I get?
Afrihost 9+1Gb for R99 (x2 or just x1 plus topup)
Afrihost 17Gb unshaped for R219
Cybersmart 3Gb plus line rental for R399 plus another account from someone else?
Other ISP 10 Gb plus topup or bigger?
Does anyone offer a package that is slow in office hours and fast at night for good money? I'd be happy with this at home.

Thanks
Rob

What about Axxess 4096mb line rental for R359 and then R19 per gig you want to buy.

I'll be getting this when I get back to SA next month.
Currently I am using their 384kb line rental for R139 + bandwidth

Cybersmart 3Gb plus line rental for R399 + redafrica 130gb deal or you can even get your line from axxess for 360 without any gigs

Cybersmart 3Gb plus line rental for R399 + redafrica 130gb deal or you can even get your line from axxess for 360 without any gigs

That's what I'm going to do, IF...IF...I get that red africa deal. It's basically my ticket to "up to 10mb".

Ok it looks like Axxess are the winners at R360 plus R20/Gb
Cybersmart are R400 plus R30/Gb after 3Gb
Therefore they both cost R460 for 5Gb, therafter Axxess becomes R10/Gb cheaper

I am in almost a similar situation hagu13 .... want to get get 4mb but uncapped is just too expensive.
The WA red account is looking more attractive but I think I would miss uncapped :)
but if I can get one of those accounts, then will probably move my line to axxess as they quite cheap for the line and then its a matter of making sure I stay within the cap :(

Also have a look at Internet Solution's local only accounts. Like I'm currently using a 30GB one from Axxess which costs me R99pm.
The 1st 2GB guarantees you international access (like the Telkom blended accounts), but if the connection doesn't drop, then you get to keep the international access :D
I have a 1GB Afrihost free account as a backup, for in case the connection drops, and then I perform traffic splitting across the two accounts.

Nowadays most of the stuff can be found locally: Google, YouTube, Microsoft downloads, Steam, certain Facebook stuff, local ISP news servers, etc.

If you really don't want to take your chances with your ADSL connection dropping with the IS local only account, then go for like 10GB Afrihost account @ R99 + like 10GB IS local only which should be around R70 or less.

I wanted the 10GB Afrihost account for R99, but they don't have the special listed anymore :(

Guys if you want a 4meg line + decent cap then i suggest you try TRL.
I am with them atm. R370 for line and R300 for 30GB unshaped cap for R670.

I am staying far away from trl .... they have a don't care attitude towards their customers ... so would rather stay with 384 than go with them :)

if u interested .. search for a thread about a guy they wanted to bill R1500 for a clean up fee, because their seedbox was used for spam, etc.
They gave him root access and then claim they take security very seriously .... now u tell me who would give out root access to a seedbox??
well good luck stevie .... but remember .. u were warned

well then he should fight for himself via CPA. if the root acces was stipulated in the t&c then its his problem, otherwise they have no leg to stand on.i read it, but don't understand the technical stuff. he needs a guy on mybb to represent him.
as i said, i am happy for what i need
