Upgrade Time. Which Phone?

I also want to upgrade but the Galaxy s is only coming out end of September and my touch diamond is going south, fast! So is the HTC Desire going to get Gingerbread and so on, or is it also going to stagnate with Froyo?

Well whats wrong with the other OS's? Pros Cons

He asked if he should consider the OS as a factor! The OS these days is on of the most important things! PLus Android phones, should be cheaper than say Windows mobile (in theory). Plus OS's like Android get upgraded constantly, so you don't have to wait ages!

It has sufficient hardware to run Froyo. Whether it will get it is anyone's guess, Froyo hasn't even officially been released yet and all the manufacturers are still busy working on updates to that. Maybe in 6+ months we will know which phones will move up to gingerbread. Rest assured though, there will be ROMS, even if the phone isn't officially upgraded.

ok, I am not understanding you guys. is this all about running certain apps on phones and Android seems to be very user friendly, compatible etc?

I saw the requirements for Gingerbread and the Desire seems to meet them, so now we how that HTC don't just stop caring

Android is very user friendly and they upgrade more regularly so you can get excited about new features every now and then :D Oh and it has the marketplace, where you can buy apps and so on!

ok, now that I have some options I will check pricing with my supplier.

Well, just reflashed my N900 (corrupted bluetooth stack / software not hardware) and it now once again feels like a new machine (yes this tablet CAN phone, but it is SOOOOOO much more). And finally MyBB forum works like on a PC. Super thank you.

Look the N900 is no iToy (it is powerful, but YOU have to set it up the way YOU want to). By default it can phone and SMS, take photos and play videos and audio.... But then the "fun" starts and you see the real power. I am no linux boffin, but you will have to update / install some basic functions via a built in Application Manager (or apt-get)...

And you have root access BY DEFAULT.

So the N900 is not a toy, but it is MY favourite new mini computer!
