Hello Chaps :)

Just finished the dload and I would appreciate your advice please:

Should I attend to a dual boot or an upgrade from vista ultimate? Can an upgrade be done, seeing as these are betas?

Sorry for the noob questions but there was some mention that MS was thinking of offering some sort of upgrade from Vista to Win 7.

Thank you all in advance :)

Edit: I do have a 64bit key for Win 7

Not much to elaborate, i have never upgraded windows as you only run into trouble. The best thing is do is run new Operating systems fresh.

Ok, I think I'll install on laptop. I'd assume you using win 7 as your primary OS or dual with Vista?

Using windows 7 as my main OS and using xp for my gaming, have a liegit license for it so using vista seems pointless when xp is good for gaming :).

I love vista but it has a problem with one of my games bf 2 which xp does not so i figured might as well use xp, i used vista 64 bit since it came out for everything :).

Its a pitty we can't upgrade Win 7 from beta to beta, the re-install of applications is a real pain!

Win 7 Beta 7000 64bit has been my main os for some time now, Waiting for RC1, pretty pointless to get one of the other new sub versions till RC1 comes out!

It does as they're getting ready to release RC1, however 7068 and 7077 aren't the final RC1 candidate - It will be released in May.
I'm specifically looking forward to it as 7000 works smoothly except for a bug i've picked up in Media Center where music plays for a few minutes and halts! So... running Vista on my Media Centers at the moment, Win7 7000 32bit on my laptop and 64bit on my machine

cryptic1, on Thursday night I installed win7 build 7077 on my Dell laptop. I didn't consider an upgrade as I've always felt they're more prone to problems.
I first split my hdd into 2 partitions, leaving my Vista install complete. I installed Win7 on the other partition in a dual boot scenario. I played around with it for a couple hours and when I was happy that it was an OS I didn't mind using all the time, I ensured I had a current backup of all my stuff, formatted and installed the Win7 as my only OS.

Thanz guys :)

Must admit only the laptop is on this morning - wondering if I should just install Win 7 on the main PC as well. I'm really impressed with this OS so far, it's so FLIPPEN AWESOME :D

Been using W7 7077 x64 for 24 hours now and fail to see the what the excitement is all about. I expected a vastly different platform with innovative operations - NOT. It looks like a Vista skin and performs the same. What are the 'real' upgrades on Vista ?

Jirm i suggest using it more man, i felt exactly the same way at first but when you start using it you will love it.

For me though the taskbar is just amazing, the way you can put 2 open windows side by side is great and illuminates the need for 2 monitors providing you have a 22". It is also much faster and boot times seem twice as good.

It is alot like vista for sure but a few thing make it stand out :), also love the stickies :)

I've just reloaded my Vista Ultimate. Have had countless crashes and blue screens since Thursday with Win7. I liked it a lot, but I'll wait for final release.

For now the only issues I had was that my IDE 80gig drive was not shown, just had to issue it a letter and that was sorted & the Asus Probe doesn't work :(. Just finished watching a movie (hmmm latest one and don't ask 'cos this thread would get de-railed) and so far no hassles.

What were your doing to encounter these crashes & bsod? Driver issues? I was surprised that I also got my monitor drivers without actually waiting for windows to do an update

Or...recent games;) Sorry dude wasn't being funny or anything but please let us know :)
