Upgraded Apple MacBook revealed

One USB-C is just not enough.

I've really enjoyed my MacBook. And have never even used the USB-C port (Other than charging).
Depends on your needs I guess.

I don't think I even have any USB devices still. They have all been thrown away over the years

USB and Thunderbolt - I use them all, often simultaneously. Sometimes I need to import/export large amounts of data, fast, and a wire is the best, or only, viable option.

That is why they make the Pro line.

You're a precious gem.

And the Air. People don't use peripherals anymore is a pretty hard sell in my books.

Even though they did a slight bump to the air, I think it is soon to be discontinued. Apple have the sales numbers for the MacBook, if they needed to backtrack on the one port ideal they would have.

Given how many iOS devices they sell vs MacBooks, the need for peripherals in the average person's day to day computing experience isn't a key consideration anymore.

The slight bump in the Air means that it isn't going to carry on, this will be the last year they sell it.
The MacBook Pro will be refreshed at WWDC, and Apple will be removing the headphone jack in the iPhone this year.

This means that next year the MacBook will also lose its headphone socket in favor of a 2nd USB-C port.

Eventually they will remove the headphone jack, that is almost certain. I am not convinced that it will be this year though, but it could happen.

I don't see that happening. If they remove the headphone jack on the iPhone it will be balanced with pushing people towards lightning connected headphones, in that case what sense does a 2nd USB-C port make for that purpose?

Bluetooth is the obvious answer to that but I don't think the tech is quite up to scratch just yet.

My "professional" macbook is currently sitting on laptop cooler, running at 75°, with a daemon in the background that has to periodically "clean" the ram in order to prevent it from freezing up.

That's probably something you should fix.

And of course your experience is representative of what most people experience when owning a Macbook Pro.

I would rather avoid such issues when I use a computer that costs R15k.

My bet is it's software related but I'm guessing you've already reinstalled the OS and apps from scratch, as opposed to restoring from a backup?
