Upgrading your contract early on vodacom?

Not always true.

I tried to cancel my business talk 180 package, with three months on it, they wanted in the region of R2k.

I just let the number idle for the last three months and went to another Vodaworld outlet and got a new one.

No, this is ALWAYS true. What you must not forget that depending on the line...there will be different charges. For example, if you spent R2000 on your line the previous month and request a cancellation quote this month, that R2000 will be included in the quote as unbilled charges. If you took a subsidised deal....say a HTC Desire HD and finaned it over 24 months (R59.00 payment per month) then that will also be calculated in included in the quote. If you have a MyMeg 600 bundle on your line, then that will also be included unless you cancell it. It is very hard to comment on your specific case without having the quote to look at. These quotes are generated by the system and calculated automaticly.....so the same rules are always followed.

Ok so i can tell him that he would have to pay off the remainder of his contract now if he wanted to change his contract type and that 6 month prepaid thing is a load of bull.

Thanks for the help also ocleroux do you work at a vodashop or something. Or do you just advise on here. Just asking cos if he wanted to go ahead with it could he contact you.

Please explain to me why he wants to migrate to prepaid now while still inside his contract period and then back again to contract when he wants his Iphone? Does he basically want to cancell the contract now, pay the cancellation fee, then take out a new contract with the same number to get the Iphone now instead of waiting for his upgrade date? Am I understanding it correctly?

Wait, CPA is supposed to be implemented by 1st April right? If so, then wouldn't that change the approach Vodacom would have to take on matters such as these?

He doesnt want to go to prepaid at all he wants to pay the cancellation fee on his weekender and go straight onto a business contract and get the phone.

That would affect future payments/contracts. But to my understanding if you're in a contract now already then the current system/terms prevail.

Ok....this was my idea.

Migrate the number to one of the Month @ Month tarrifs to have the term and upgrade dates reset to "0". This will then charge you the migration fee. Once that is done...it will be another 3 months before you can migrate again to a normal 24 month tarriff and then upgrade the line with a Iphone and extend the line for 24 months. I phoned our help desk to run my idea past them ..... and the answer was not positive. They said it will not work...cause even though we migrating it to a M2M tariff...the system upgrade date will not be reset and therefore when we migrate it back again to a normal tariff...the upgrade date will be as it was.

I also confirmed about the 6 month prepaid thing...and they said yes, that is correct.

Ok thanks for trying oc. That 6 month prepaid thing is really silly I wonder what the reasons are for it

im confused... if I go onto the vodacom4me website it says 15 June

does that mean I can go in and upgrade NOW ?

The pre-paid thing does make sense if you want to keep the number. If you cancel the contract entirely you will lose the number. On pre-paid you will remain the owner of the number although the contract has been terminated. Once on pre-paid you then have to wait at least six months to migrate to a 24 month contract. This is the only way to keep the same number.

Unless you ported to mtn or cellc immediately after cancelling, as it would now be prepaid then you could go on a 24 month contract with them and vodacom would effectively lose business so it makes no sense at all for vodacom to do this. They are only lucky that he is a loyal customer.

I understand going prepaid to not lose the number but not for 6 months

Why Iphone though? I would say rather go for Blackberry or Android. Just my opinion. :-)

Yeah I know I tried to get him to get a Desire HD but once he is set on something his mind is made up besides if he didnt like it he would be blaming me for the 24 months (seeing as cancelling early is such a headache lol)

Can i take my vodacom upgrade 2 weeks before im supposed to?

My phone got stolen the other night and my contract is only viable for upgrade on July 27th is there any way id be allowed to upgrade 2 weeks before? Its crucial that i have a phone soon.
