Ever since I got 8ta I've had major problems with uploading. Doing a speedtest.net just results on hanging on the upload screen and sometimes passes with very low figures. This problem is also preventing me from uploading save files on my PSN+ service and on certain websites.

The problem is however not present when I use my Cell C sim card. I've tested my 8ta in another area where it seems to work so it's something in my area that's messed up. Also my download speeds have dropped over the past couple of months. I have a case number from 8ta but nobody is coming back to me :(

Very disappointed.

Hi DarKWateR!

Our technicians have made contact with you and should hopefully be able to resolve this query for you.

I have had the same problems in the past 3 weeks....

Download speed is fantastic 8 or 9 Mbps - great !!!!
Ping around 55ms - fantastic !!!
Upload speeds is so slow that it actually hangs most of the time and cannot give me a reading. If it does give a reading it will usually be around 0.03 Mbps

This slow upload speed affects the download speeds when browsing the web. As we know, downloads are broken down into small packets. A small packet of data is sent down, and then my computer is supposed to send an "ack" (acknowledge to say it has received the packet of data okay). Well, obviously these acks are not getting sent to the server, or are being sent very slowly, if at all, which results in no more packets of data coming down. Causing pages to hang on the internet.

Is this an 8ta fault ? or is there a setting on my wireless router that needs to be changed ? It was working fine before with the same router/settings etc. It has only been the last 3 weeks that my upload speeds have ground to an almost zero

8ta can you also get your tech to contact me please, thanks

It is starting to look like a router setting problem. My daughter has just arrived home for the school holidays. I took her iPad, which has an 8ta SIM card INSIDE THE iPAD (I bought her an 8ta prepaid card with 2GB + 1Gb deal)

I then did a speed test on her iPad, and it was all good - 8 Mbps down and 1.8 Mbps up !!!! From the same house that I am battling to get uploads - but with hers going direct on 3G, and mine using a wireless router and 3G modem

Odd that I have had the same wireless router and 3G modem all along, and suddenly the upload speeds drop to nothing just a few weeks ago

Ginggs....I think that solved it - thanks for the link

BTW I am using a Cell C fast 3G Huawei E1820 3G modem (still with the old Cell C firmware in), and a TP Link MR3220 wireless router.

I followed the steps in the link you provided - enabled bandwidth control, and upped the Ingress/Egress to both 7168 (they were set on 512 and 1068 each before) and enabled "other" - which was set to "ADSL" before

The results were immediate. Pages started to open swiftly and everything suddenly became very responsive.

BTW my Cell C 3G Huawei E1820 with Cell C firmware and 8ta SIM card inside, does not run when I use it directly into my laptop. But runs fine when plugged into my router. This has not been a problem for me as I only connect wirelessly anyway.

Thanks again, all sorted

Check my upload speeds since I made the changes to my router settings
