uploading kills download speed

512 is 256, and 1mb is 384.

I'm on 512 and I upload anywhere between 36-42kB/s. My modem also syncs at a download rate of 384kbps.

Nice For the posters above i do understand how the dslams and sync speeds work. I was reporting my recorded speed cos ppl say that the upload sync speed is throttled @ 256 for a 1mb line.

Instead of FTPing i also use netmeter which gives a very detailed look at my upload speeds over a certain period. Its worth a download and use.

Having used both - and having had speeds in excess of 256k for both - I wouldn't pay more based on the assumption that speeds are going to be higher than advertised.
