There are some steps you'll need to follow to buy from the US Store...

First, you need the actual store account. You need a physical address and contact number in the US to do this... Google a hotel or restaurant or something like that for those details... The easiest way to get this going is to make sure you're in the US Store, click on a free app to buy and create the account... You *can* create an account *without* payment details, check the drop-down menu for payment options... Do that.

Next, head off to http://www.buyfrompowerseller.com/deals/
Buy a voucher for the US Store... They charge a small premium, but not as bad as other sites and it's the price you pay for shopping in the US Store.

Check your mail for the code

Copy the code, head back to iTunes, look for "Redeem" down the right-hand-side and redeem your voucher.

You'll have credit for the face value of the voucher you bought and you can spend away.

Have fun.

this were I am stuck

You need to click to download a free app or book from the US store, then create an account when it asks you to.
That should give the option to create an account without a payment method.

I'm looking into getting apple tv maybe sometime next year, chuck out the BD player, and join the streaming club as well as build a "cloud" music/movie library.

In the olden days, you had to have a US account. Because the ZA store was non existent.

I quickly logged into my ZA account to check it out. It seems pretty descend and I can find pretty all apps/music/movies on the ZA store.

I'm sure new movie releases in ZA will correspond with ZA official release dates, but that's 100% fine. These days, it pretty much matches US/EU release dates for the block busters.

A quick comparison, you can buy Despicable Me 3 (4k HDR) for R170. On the US store it's $20 (R280 + the levy on US iTunes vouchers).

It's much more convenient to buy with a credit card than to buy iTunes vouchers at a premium...

What am I missing? This was a issues in 2012.

So is it just me or does the ZA store look pretty descend these days?

It is looking decent.

The ITunes store is the only place you can get cheap 4k HDR movies from but you need a fast internet connection because Apple doesn't allow you to download for offline viewing like they do with their HD and SD movies
