Well in grown up land you can laugh at racist, right wing hypocrisy AND think all of American gun culture is abhorrent, including these black folks with guns.

@greg0205 back me up here. Are you glad there is an armed group out and about here? Do you think that is appropriate under any circumstances?

My post started with a specific reference to the NRA who make it their business to defend *their* version of gun folk... These are not their gun folk and the hypocrisy burns.

... and no.

No country in the world should have protests that look like that.

Ever.

For perspective, they say there were 400 to 1000 in that march... 400 to 1000 firearms... In the 80s we'd patrol the cut-line on the Angolan border. Two teams, eight Casspirs, roughly eighty folk... Eighty R4s or R5s and two big guns per Casspir, so maybe 100 total...

In

A

War.

Prominent Republicans promise to back Biden in election

As the US election approaches, President Donald Trump is not just fending off attacks by members of the opposing party, but also from his own.

As the United States election approaches, a new dynamic is playing out. President Donald Trump is not just fending off attacks by members of the opposing party, but also from his own.

Some prominent Republicans have publicly stated they will vote for former Vice President Joe Biden and are working to help get him elected.

Wow...not directly related to the US election...but just read a harrowing account about how QAnon destroyed the relationship between a mother and daughter. Enraging that this complete nonsense can have such devastating relationship effects...

There's a subreddit called QAnonCasualties.
Yeah been following this for years now ever since Xarog brought it up here.

Dozens of stories like this and they are all tragic. Marriages and families torn apart. People losing their jobs. It is crazy.

Qanon conspiracy has led to actual casualties.

I miss the days when it was just the 9/11 conspiracies. It was essentially harmless (albeit highly disrespectful of the people who died and the families of those who died) as no 9/11 truther ever went crazy with guns like a Qanon conspiracy loons have done.

Couple of things...

First, in just case you've forgotten my post on Friday:

In unrelated news, close to 20 million Americans have lost their jobs; 2,8 million Americans have a virus that 131 666 folk have died from; masks are a culture war issue and not a science issue; states that opened early are starting to reimpose restrictions; Americans are barred from travelling to Europe; an eviction crisis is unfolding; there are daily protests against police violence and Russia is paying bounties for dead American soldiers.

Also, there is no deal with NK or Iran and only three miles of new wall has been built.

Except, today, 2,97 million have the virus and 132 531 are dead.

None of that seems as important to this WH as a Fox poll 'tho.

Second, six battleground states and Joe is at 50% or higher in five of 'em with a six point average lead... AZ and FL... There's no path to the WH for Donnie without FL.

In 2016 he won Michigan by 0,2, Pennsylvania by 0,7 and Wisconsin by 0,8.

79 646 votes.

This is a five-alarm fire.

Tom Bossert y'all:

On @ThisWeekABC today I shared some estimates on the number of infectious people in FL. Here are estimates for AZ, CA, GA, TX...

AZ: Cases as of 7/4 (94.6K); cases as of 6/20 (49.8K). Increase of 44.8K over 2 weeks. Assuming case ascertainment of 20%, true number of cases = 220K. Population of AZ = 7.3M, so roughly 3% of population is currently infectious.

CA: Cases as of 7/4 (254.7K); cases as of 6/20 (169.3K). Increase of 85.4K over 2 weeks. Assuming case ascertainment of 20%, true number of cases = 427K. Population of CA = 40M, so roughly 1% of population is currently infectious.

GA: Cases as of 7/4 (93.3K); cases as of 6/20 (63.8K). Increase of 30K over 2 weeks. Assuming case ascertainment of 20%, true number of cases = 150K. Population of GA = 10.6M, so roughly 1.4% of population is currently infectious.

TX: Cases as of 7/4 (191.8K); cases as of 6/20 (107.7K). Increase of 84K over 2 weeks. Assuming case ascertainment of 20%, true number of cases = 416K. Population of TX = 29M, so roughly 1.4% of population is currently infectious.

Masks are important, but not enough. “We conclude that the effectiveness of any one intervention in isolation is likely to be limited, requiring multiple interventions to be combined to have a substantial impact on transmission.” See: imperial.ac.uk/media/imperial…

What are the hundreds of thousands of infectious people in these states doing right now? Isolating? Are their family members quarantining themselves? How many days does it take for them to notify people with whom they have been in close contact? Are they even notifying others?
