Hollywood is definitely making crap movies.
But we don't learn anything at all by going backwards.

He’s saying that if you look backwards old movies were better.

And going forwards things are getting worse.

So by looking backwards and learning from the past you can learn how to improve things in the future.

I don't think he wants to bring back GWtW. He's using it as an example of a 'great American movie' - a classical, nationalistic mythologization of an American past that never really existed, complete with troubling racial themes. What he's saying is, artists should stop with all this modernistic multicultural nonsense and get back to glorifying America's image of itself and whitewashing the unpleasant aspects of its past.

It's exactly the same thing all other fascist leaders do. It's a form of state propaganda. I find it extremely disturbing.

Yeah time for a bonfire of the vanities.

Time to burn down some churches and take down some monuments and museums.

Rename towns and streets.

Send dissidents to the gulags.

The socialist way.

Ok drama llama, the only ones burning down churches in the USA are the KKK :whistling:

I came here to ask the Trump supporters to decode what Trump said, as my TDS doesn't allow me to decipher what could be wrong with a South Korean film winning an Oscar.

It sounds like one of those subtle dog whistles.

Anyway, happy to hear the lucid translations from Trump supporters.
South Park covered this perfectly in 2017 already - Memberries!

Member Chewbacca? Yeah I member!
Member Bionic Man? Yeah I member!
Member when marriage was between a man and a woman? Yeah I member
Member when there were less Mexicans? Yeaaah!
Member Chewbacca again!

100% dog whistle

Of course it was fun for you to make - you're a Bernie fan.

You left off "peasant" from Bernie's Gov Spending box (as you have it for the others), and your Bernie Property Rights box has no condescending pejorative as you have for the others. All your Gov Spending and Property Rights boxes are a misrepresentation. What fun!
Ok here is zero percent snarky table just for you:

On the subject of the KKK burning down churches, I suggest everyone read this tweet thread.

It covers a very dark period in American history from around 1919, where economic anxiety and racial prejudice drove an ethnic cleansing campaign in many Southern States against black people living there.

It covers the rampant lynchings of black people. Mass shootings of black people. Burning down of entire neighbourhoods, deportation of black people out of their neighbourhoods and of course the good old staple diet of the South, burning down of churches which belonged to black congregations.

If you watched Watchmen, you would have seen a glimpse of this in the first episode, with the Tulsa Race Riots of 1921.

LOL You're a special kinda delusional you know that.

Using the word fascist to describe Trump shows just how bad you have TDS.

I will ask you to show how in ANY shape or form Trump is a fascist, and you will of course obfuscate and say something about Ukraine. But you won't have an answer, just rhetoric, that stems from hatred and not from any logical part of your brain. Pure emotionalism.

I said he's a quasi-fascist. He's operating within the constraints of US democracy, but he's very eager to discard any constraints on his power.

But yeah - you're going to have to accept the pattern of facts, and you're remarkably impervious to facts so I don't see how this is going to go anywhere.

I know the media is piling on Bloomberg but he has the money to stay in the race. As I a few months ago, he'd be the only one I'd really consider in the Democrat lane.

Mayor Pete actually spoke quite well but he is too much of a limousine liberal for my liking.

2020: Best election ever for laughs!

LOL Just as I thought, you have nothing, zilch, zippo, nada. It's all loud-mouthed fundamentalist bullcrap.

No comparisons, no examples, just hot air and wide-eyed fist pounding, equating to exactly..... NOTHING. Well done.

It's a pity that the Democrats are at war with each other. The Republican Party is so united. They shouldn't be attacking each other. They should campaign on what they have to offer, not on what's wrong with their rivals.

Trump's Rasmussen numbers are back at 49% approve, 50% disapprove. A few days ago, he celebrated on Twitter that his Rasmussen approval rating had hit 50%, and speculated that it would have been at 70% were it not for the "fake news media". That 50% rating didn't last very long.
