Yeah. When we just moved over, my wife suggested the same "conversion" rate. Helped us get use to how much things "cost" relatively.See, that's what I mean.
That five quid really more closely translates into R50, not R100.

Antifa deserve to be slurred. Bernie bros don't though. Not because their Messiah is a borderline Communist, because only an idiot would think he'd achieve even remotely what he's promised. However, I hope he pushes the US to implement a little more social programs or at least optimise. The US government already spends a fortune on health programs, but their budget seems to get them nowhere near as far as Europeans seem to be able to.When its fun to strawman and slur.

Free NHS-style healthcare should be a thing. It exists in some states where critical procedures get written off because they know the person will never be able to pay.
Great Scott!! I think you have just solved all the world's economic problems. All the government has to do is hand out money to people, then cancel the debt. I mean it would only add another $1.6 trillion to the debt. What is that between friends AMIRITE?The one area were I agree with Bernie on is cancelling the student debt. It's at about 1.6 trillion. From what I understand it's government debt so it won't affect private businesses.
Even better, tie the loan to specific professions that will be in demand in 5 years time, thus incentivising supply to meet demand. E.g. for some bizarre reason there is going to be a shortage of archaeologists in 5 years, then pump the loans. But I suspect you are implying that with your post?Great Scott!! If you want to look at student debt, the system needs to be reformed before you can even think of a bailout. Currently the government hands out money to people who have 0 chance of paying it back. Giving a $50 000 loan to someone studying a BA in underwater basket weaving isn't an investment. Giving the same amount of money to a medical student is.
So I would suggest that before you even start bailing out student loans, you tighten up the criteria on how they give loans. For people out of school, you base it on their SAT scores and the degree they are studying. For people in university, you base it on whether they have failed any modules or not. You allow one extra for a degree to give people some leeway (so if it is a 3 year degree, they get 4 years, 4 year degree they get 5). If they need more than 1 year extra to finish their starting degree, no more government money.
