They sent a letter to the president asking for emergency funding. That was on February 14th

On Feb. 19, he told a Phoenix television station, “I think the numbers are going to get progressively better as we go along.”

He continued to claim the situation was improving. On Feb. 26, he said: “We’re going down, not up. We’re going very substantially down, not up.” On Feb. 27, he predicted: “It’s going to disappear. One day — it’s like a miracle — it will disappear.” On Feb. 29, he said a vaccine would be available “very quickly” and “very rapidly” and praised his administration’s actions as “the most aggressive taken by any country.

Instead, he suggested on multiple occasions that the virus was less serious than the flu. “We’re talking about a much smaller range” of deaths than from the flu, he said on March 2. “It’s very mild,” he told Hannity on March 4. On March 7, he said, “I’m not concerned at all.” On March 10, he promised: “It will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away

It seems that patients who were treated with hydroxychloroquine, but had poor outcomes, were effectively excluded from the analysis:
There were 26 patients treated with hydroxychloroquine. Of these 6 are excluded because they did not continue the full 10 day course of treatment; 3 were transferred to ICU, one died, one discontinued due to adverse reaction (nausea) and one left hospital early.

Thus among the 26 patients started on with hydroxychloroquine, 15% (4/26) went to ICU or died vs. 0/15 of the controls, a difference that may be due to chance. However the baseline characteristics of the 6 patients who deteriorated rapidly are not presented in Supplementary Table 1. The analysis of outcomes of the treated group are based on the remaining 20 treated patients.

Looking at supplementary Table 1, most of the controls had viral load qualitatively detected or the PCR was not done !!!!. Only 4 out of 16 controls had a proper measure of the viral load!!!! This is insane !

I wish Trump was of the calibre of President that JFK was.

Had JFK been gifted that low hanging fruit of a question, he would have orated at great length saying yes the American people will feel scared, but because they are Americans, because they will triumph over this adversity, they should not be fearful, Americans will come together, they will work up and beyond their call of duty to develop what ever is needed to fight this virus, whether it is manufacturing ventilators, masks, volunteering or just isolating.

They will over come.

Not what that childish dummy spitting episode, that insecure, incompetent malcontent delivered.

:giggle: Thats not a letter asking for emergency funding, and not to the president either. Thats a letter asking estimated costs and budget they can expect to see and what 'programs' the funding will be coming from.

It is expected of a leader to be able to handle such difficult questions. Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr., Reagan, and Carter, would have kept their cool. Nixon lost his cool with journalists, just like Trump. If Trump wants only nice things written about him, he should take out a paid advertorial.

Exactly right. The reporter was asking him tough questions and it got Trump rattled. Then when he asked what was actually a lay-up Trump lost the plot and went full Orange spittle fuhrer on him.

Even more bizarre was when he referred to the Deep State Department, I mean wtf that’s his own State Department with his guy Pompeo at the head.
 
The Orange Fuhrer is so farking dumb and self centered that he continues to miss all the opportunities to capitalize on the very unfortunate situation America and the rest of the world are enduring.

The White House did not provide a concrete timeline Saturday about when healthcare professionals can expect to have much-needed supplies, such as masks and ventilators.

Vice President Mike Pence told reporters at a press briefing that “companies would be producing millions of masks within a matter of weeks” and said that President Donald Trump “expanded liability protections to industrial masks so that they could now be used in hospitals.”

Trump, Pence and other members of the coronavirus task force were asked by reporters when healthcare workers could expect to have the supplies. No one was able to provide a timeline.

Trump instead criticized reporters and insisted that, despite having been in office for over three years now, any slow response or lack of preparedness was because of a broken system he inherited.

Trump poses, while these governors actually lead

When the president fails America, we often turn to state governors in a desperate search for leadership.

This is what happened at the start of the Great Depression. When President Herbert Hoover failed to adequately acknowledge and confront the crisis, Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was then the governor of New York, took aggressive steps at the state level, setting up an emergency relief program, for example, to help the unemployed.

This is exactly what is happening now. Millions of Americans have already upended their lives. While the coronavirus pandemic claims an increasing number of lives and cripples our economy, President Donald Trump continues to spread disinformation and attack the press, which is working to get accurate, timely information to the public.

For those who were hoping Trump might rise to the occasion, it's likely that turning point may never come.

Fortunately for the country, others are stepping in to fill the void.
