New York governor to FEMA: You pick the people who will die because of lack of federal resources

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo criticized the federal response to coronavirus, saying the Federal Emergency Management Agency sent the state 400 ventilators — but they need 30,000.

"FEMA says, 'we're sending 400 ventilators.' Really? What am I going to do with 400 ventilators, when I need 30,000?" Cuomo asked asked at a news conference.

"You pick the 26,000 people who are going to die because you only sent 400 ventilators," Cuomo added.

Throughout his news conference, Cuomo brought up the 400 ventilators New York recieved from FEMA.

"Four hundred ventilators? I need 30,000 ventilators. You want a pat on the back for sending 400 ventilators?" He said earlier. "What are we going to do with 400 ventilators when we need 30,000 ventilators? You're missing the magnitude of the problem, and the problem is defined by the magnitude."

Lol what a life of privilege you live.

As someone who has lost a few family members in our public hospitals, I can tell you that the right to life is certainly not a very high priority.

Really great work being done on the testing. Most countries done even have the capacity to test that many people a day. I know of people waiting a week already for their test results in SA.

This is the only way to get out in front of the virus.

Life isn't the highest priority. It is in the same category of law as property, which socialists regards as the most evil thing in the world(slightly above the family)

It is why equality and dignity are in section 1, whilst property and life are in section 2.

What SA should do is a partial lock down for two weeks to build up reserves to deal with the cases. So closing anything that has large amounts of people and isn't a major part of the economy. Theatres, churches, Parkrun etc. Anyone who can work from home, must work from home.
Companies that can do their business whilst minimising contact with the general public must remain open.

Then all of the money that the retards in government are paying businesses during this time can go towards bolstering ICUs and setting up production of facemasks.

Resources should be provided to help people isolate vulnerable people like the elderly.

First priority should be getting testing done.
And isolating the correct people.

What do you suggest South Africa does, especially given your personal experience of the poor quality of hospitals in South Africa?

Should they adopt measures that limit the amount of people who will require a space in the poor hospital? Or should they not?

As above, I basically agree with konfab. Don't forget about the bigger picture here. Food is an more important basic need than medical care and a far greater amount of people are going to sit without food.
