I have had smartdnsproxy for some time and it has only gone down once of which was rectified in about two hours. Also you can choose different regions for different programs and so I can have american netflix and uk amazon prime.

Also smartdns comes with a VPN built in for good measure

It's definitley not reliable though. I've used it before. It takes ages to load and I often get error messages like "you are using a proxy/unblocker" while watching netflix with it on. Neither BBC iplayer or Hulu works consistently, its just hassle. Have you even tried using a vpn like express or nord to compare the 2?

The smart dns service knows where to route the traffic (and only that traffic). You don't have to do anything apart from change your DNS settings and set up a couple of static routes (if possible)

I have friends in the US but many use gift cards or even a US itunes account.

I use it every day. Hulu, Netflix, BBC and everything else... works and it works on every device on my network.

just switch on a vpn for the US and then start creating a paypal account. For the address use https://www.fakeaddressgenerator.com/usa_address_generator and generate a legit amerinca address and then put in your card for payment to paypal.

I think this is what I did if I remember correctly

I have both my Hulu (with showtime) and CBS accounts linked to it

for Disney (and a couple of other us based accounts like Starz and showtime) you can actually link it to your Hulu account so you only have one account.

Also when you create your Hulu account when opening up also make sure you use a VPN for the US

There are plenty of places to buy Hulu or US iTunes gift cards.

Hey, I signed up with these guys for the free trial to see if I like it. Got a quick question for you or anyone who might know - I'm not super savvy with this stuff but I wanted to know.... I'm using a Huawei B618s-65d

and is DDNS the same thing as DNS?

its the closest thing I can find inside the router menu. Sorry if a dumb question :laugh:

DDNS is something different although it can be used to automatically update your IP address. Apart from that I'm afraid I'm not going to be of much use with that particular modem. :o

It would be under the Dial-up menu.

But I seem to remember this is one of those routers where you actually can’t change these things or some other odd settings.

4 Cases in the last 6 months of errant charges to my card.

Whilst I can get this corrected with the local bank, they are doing shiat to fix their end.

So, no. I do not. At all.
