Doesn't that suggest to you that there's more to the story than meets the eye?

Indeed. It’s an obvious tell that the underlying details are really awful for Kelly and the WH.

Lol.

How? Are they to blame for the guy's misbehaviour? If it was a PR issue, why not just cut him loose?

Feds Scrambled to Redact Information Showing Top Secret Spy Abuse
Newly unearthed info confirms Nunes memo on FBI spying

Federal authorities scrambled to redact and keep classified key information revealing major abuses of the U.S. surveillance apparatus that targeted President Donald Trump's associates in the lead up to the 2016 election, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation who said the latest information corroborates findings recently made public by House Intelligence Committee officials.

On the heels of the release of a classified memo by Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee disclosing that the FBI relied heavily on a widely discredited anti-Trump dossier to carry out unwarranted surveillance on Trump allies, Senate investigators this week made public their own findings that appear to corroborate the events.

The new criminal referral issued by Sens. Chuck Grassley and Lindsay Graham, both Senate Judiciary Committee members, calls for a formal investigation into Christopher Steele, the onetime British spy who compiled the dossier on behalf of the Democratic National Committee and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

The latest details, which detail alleged spy abuses, are likely to complicate efforts by Democratic leaders to rebut the allegations and keep the public focused on the continuing investigation into claims the Trump campaign colluded with Russia.

I seem to recall being taunted for backing Nunes over Schiff. He who laughs last...

It’s ‘cos they didn’t cut him loose ‘till it blew up in the press and they were left twisting in the wind. Kinda like what happened with Flynn...

Along with Kelly, no one really has more access to 45 than Porter. The folk doing the background checks knew about the accusations and they resulted in the feds holding back his security clearance for more than a year. I’ll say that again... More than a year.
Impossible Kelly didn’t know and he backed Porter ‘till he ran out of road when the photos dropped yesterday. Hope Hicks helped write the WH response defending Porter yesterday... She’s dating the dude.
All of this to cover for one of 45’s closest aids who has access to all the documents 45 gets, who can’t get proper security clearance, and likes smacking his wives and girlfriends up.

Its the WH... This shyte should not be happening.

So you mean, someone is setting him up and using deception in order to do it?

ROGER STONE: Gen. Michael Flynn to File Motion for Dismissal of ALL CHARGES Against Him (VIDEO)

According to legendary political operative and InfoWars correspondent, Roger Stone, lawyers for Gen. Michael Flynn are preparing legal action to have all charges against him dropped.

STONE: “Lawyers for General Mike Flynn will shortly file a motion to dismiss all the charges filed against him, based on reports now confirmed by The Hill, Circa News and Infowars, that Assistant FBI Director Andrew McCabe told a teleconference of law enforcement officials, “first we ***** Flynn, then we ***** Trump.”

Fox News host Sean Hannity and reporter Sara Carter have suggested Flynn may have been tricked into having the interview with disgraced FBI agent Peter Strzok without a lawyer.
The facts are out. There would be no need to call off the sentencing of Flynn to something he pleaded guilty to if there wasn't clear evidence of bad faith behaviour on the part of the FBI.

The same FBI which has conspired with Obama to undermine the Trump administration at any cost.

So waiting a year before giving a guy the all clear sounds like more of the same. You know what they say, fool me once...

I'm sure you can explain, then, why the wheels fell off the Flynn case, right?

C'mon Mr incredulous, spin us a plausible yarn.

What fantasy world are you living in? You wanting the case against Flynn to go away and wingnuts on Fox pushing for it doesn't mean it's happening.
In the real world, Flynn has plead guilty and is cooperating with Muller... Show me the video of a judge throwing out the case and you'll get your yarn... 'Till then, the OT thread is that way ----->

This is pretty wild.

House Intel Republicans plan to wall off their aides from Democratic staffers

In a sign of increasing partisan hostilities, Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee plan to construct a wall – a physical partition – separating Republican and Democratic staff members in the committee's secure spaces, according to multiple committee sources. It's expected to happen this spring.

For now, some Republican committee members deny knowing anything about it, while strongly suggesting the division is the brainchild of the committee's chairman, Devin Nunes, R-California.

...

"I swear to God I didn't know that," said Rep. Tom Rooney, R-Florida, when asked about the plan. While acknowledging a wall might not be constructive for the committee's work, he said, "The level of trust and the level of everything down there is – it's poison. It's absolute poison down there."

Rooney said one reason for the tension is an erosion of trust, exacerbated by an ongoing ethics investigation into the "entire Republican staff," including "the woman up front that answers the phone" for alleged leaks. He later added that the matter was being handled by the Office of Congressional Ethics.

:wtf:

President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, will face a different judge to be sentenced than the one who took Flynn’s guilty plea to a felony false statement charge last week, court records show.

Judge Emmet Sullivan was randomly assigned to take over the case after Judge Rudolph Contreras recused himself.

Rudolph Contreras, Rudolph Contreras, where have I heard that name before?

WASHINGTON — Judge Rudolph Contreras was responsible for issuing the FISA Warrant to wiretap former Trump Campaign Foreign Policy Adviser Carter Page, according to two sources familiar with the material that underlies the Memo published by the House Intelligence Committee on Friday.

Contreras was appointed to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) by Chief Justice John Roberts in the midst of the 2016 election, being sworn-in on May 19, 2016. He would go on to issue authorization to spy on Carter Page after receiving an application from the FBI, who purported to believe that Carter Page could be acting as an agent of the Russian Government. The FISA Court has received more than 34,000 applications to spy on Americans since its founding in 1978, turning down only 12 applications in that time, or just .0312%.

Well ain't that a coinkidink! :crylaugh:

Rand Paul doing what he does best.
Paul was technically allowed to hold up the vote until 1 a.m., and he did so, holding up the voting until 1 a.m. -- that is, one hour after the shutdown was set to begin. The Senate is able to vote on final passage no earlier than about 2:30 a.m. Then, the president still has to sign any bill.

Senate leadership aides say they think they can get the continuing resolution to the House about an hour after the Senate votes, meaning that the earliest the House could vote is between 3 and 5 a.m. This means that a short term shutdown of just a few hours could well be over by the time government workers wake up Friday morning.

On the Senate floor Thursday night, Paul railed against his own party for allowing greater spending, deficits and ultimately debt. Paul railed against government spending on everything from Afghanistan to misspent funds diverted from school lunch programs, saying both parties are "spending us into oblivion."

"How come you were against President Obama's deficits, and then how come you're for Republican deficits? Isn't that the very definition of intellectual dishonesty?" he demanded.

I am with Rand on this one.

Poor Rand Paul. Even if he was president, there is nothing he can do.

Ouch... :erm:

One retiring Republican lawmaker, Rep. Charlie Dent of Pennsylvania, went further.

“When Rand Paul pulls a stunt like this, it easy to understand why it's difficult to be Rand Paul's next door neighbor,” said Dent, referring to the neighbor who assaulted Paul last year, breaking several of his ribs and sending him to the hospital. “The whole delay and filibuster exercise on the budget agreement is utterly pointless.”

The Dow Jones industrial average fell more than a thousand points on Thursday. This week has so far seen the second-biggest weekly drop in history, coming in slightly behind the week that ended on Oct. 10, 2008. If the Dow drops 214 points on Friday, it will be the worst week in history.

It's not a possibility, it is a guarantee, if not now then somewhere in the future. The 2008 crash has never been "recovered" from, all the excessive money printing merely re-inflated what was already the biggest bubble in history. Bigger bubble than 2008 = bigger crash (eventually) than 2008.

Just a pity Trump's hubris has him associating himself with a crash that was entirely engineered by his predecessor.

It's more consistent than other Repubs, but he still gleefully voted for a tax bill that blows a giant hole in the deficit, so not exactly consistent either.
That is perfectly consistent from his viewpoint, as he believes in low taxes+low spending.
