Or maybe he doesn't see it as being as controversial as all the proles want it to be? Honestly, all of these things are distracting from the point of these hearings.

Something that irks me about the criticisms I see leveled at Bret is the way they call him an originalist as if it was a bad thing. That is one of the founding principles of having a constitution in the first place. Imagine if a supreme court judge ruled in this country that despite what the constitution says, affirmative action is actually illegal because the constitution is a living document.

When he was nominated he lied straight off the bat.

"Mr. President, throughout this process, I have witnessed firsthand your appreciation for the vital role of the American judiciary.

No president has ever consulted more widely or talked with more people from more backgrounds to seek input about a supreme court nomination.

And it was just as unnecessary.

Honestly, all of these things are distracting from the point of these hearings.

There is no point to them.

Presumably the people who think it's a bad thing don't think it's good that he is one.

No, it isn't. Originalism isn't the only valid school of constitutional interpretation.

Well, Kavanaugh has injected his own views into his rulings (often ignoring actual established, long-standing laws - so much for his supposed 'textualism'), especially in labour relations cases.

Yeah, I am not buying the author's arguements:

I say that Brett Kavanaugh is indifferent to the lives of people different from himself. That is a serious charge. Can I prove it? Well, there are plenty of places where he has made it clear. See, for example, this article about Hawaiians, which derisively claims native activists seek a “racial spoils system” without actually considering why these Hawaiians might feel the U.S. owes them a little something.

Just consider that judgement for a second. If you allow racial voting in one place, you allow it everywhere. The author is too much of a rank leftist and postmodernist to see the implications of that.
